Sponsored by Slice and the Sea Monster

Slice And The Sea Monster was created by Liverpool author C.R Knox and Warrington illustrator Jo MacMichael.
Aimed at children aged 2-7, the book features vibrant illustrations and a charming story that will capture young readers' imaginations. It tells the tale of a cat named Slice who, after his snooze, gathers his friends Mags, Boots and Willis and whisks them away on a high seas adventure with a very angry sea monster! Does Slice make it out alive? Read the book to find out!

Could This Be Real Tribute Festival 2026 🎸

Could Be Real Tribute Festival is coming back to Walton Hall & Gardens in 2026 and it sounds like they’re going big again. It’s happening on Friday, 19th June, and you’ll see all the familiar tribute names on the poster above.
A full day of live music on the lawn, street food, bars, merch, and that proper festival feel without leaving Warrington.
Tickets are on sale on Friday, 19th December, with VIP upgrades too. They’re doing an early-bird sign-up if you want first dibs.

Warrington food and drink news 🍽️
🍺 This weekend, 4T’s Brewery Taproom is open again with food from Lorenzo's Pizza. 4T’s messaged me last month to say they had quite a few visitors pop in who said they heard about it in the Scoop. If you go…. let them know where you heard about it 🙂
🍽️ Have you heard of Warrington Eats? It’s like Just Eat and Uber Eats, except it’s run by a couple from Warrington. They have loads of amazing places onboard. Give them a try and support local.
🍔 I’ve been hearing good things about The Street Food Project and they have just recently announced they are moving to a new kitchen at the back of the Chapel House Pub. Get yourself some nice food while enjoying a pint. What more could you want?
🍦 RIAD Brunch Cafe has brought out their festive sticky toffee sunday, and it looks amazing!
🍳 Quaker (based on Padgate Station) serves “hot honey, bacon and eggs” on their menu, which they said is one of the most popular items, and it looks amazing.
If you try any of the above, let them know that you heard about them in the Scoop 😀

Thinking about going self-employed in Warrington? Community Catalysts can help.
I spoke with Diane Warburton this week. She supports people in Warrington who want to set up small services that help others at home. This covers things like cleaning, cooking, shopping help, dog walking, or simple support that makes life easier. It can fill the gap for people who don’t need full-time care but do need a bit of steady help to stay independent.
Community Catalysts guide you through the setup. They help you with the business side. They add your service to their site so people can find you. You don’t need to arrive with a full plan.
If you want to see the kind of small local services people have already created, take a look at the Small Good Stuff directory. Everyone listed there has completed the programme and earned their accreditation rosette, so it’s a good way to see what this support can lead to.
You can also read more about the wider work Community Catalysts do here.
If you’ve wanted to start your own thing and help people in the community, this could be a great fit. Contact Diane Warburton – Community Enterprise Catalyst (Warrington) Mobile: 07776 596395

Warrington Shout Outs 📣
⛲️ I filmed a video on Tuesday of the town centre fountain being repaired, with one person inside it. Has this been broken for over 5 years now? Anyway, here’s a video showing it’s being worked on.
📖 Jenna from Woolston has a new kids’ book out called Billy the Happy Bean. It’s about a baked bean on a little journey to feel better again, inspired by real NHS wellbeing ideas. She and Carol will be at Birchwood Shopping Centre this Saturday (9.30–2pm) next to the Birchwood Lions Santa Grotto, selling the book in person.
🚢 Next Saturday (the 20th) theres a work party on the Sankey Canal at Sankey Bridges to help clean up the area. If you are free, they would love it if you could spare a few hours.

Warrington Wordle 🧠
People really enjoyed last week’s Wordle with the street name angle. I think I had the most replies to a Wordle I have ever had. Shout out to Simon Harris, who sent me a funny reply about how frustrated he got with Wordle, which may have contained a few swear words. 🤣
Today's Wordle is staying on the street/road theme, a road/street name.

Thanks 👍️
