Warrington’s Friday update is here
Events, food, drink, Wordle and everything you need to know
Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
We are the local newsletter that doesn’t cover crime or politics. We SCOOP up all the good stuff going on around town that you might need to know about and put it in one quick, handy email that takes 2 minutes to read.
In today’s Scoop:
Brewery open day returns 🍺
Follow along with the restoration of Grappenhall Rectory 🚧
Warrington food and drink news 🍽️
Warrington Wordle 🧠
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️
P.S. If you have just joined (over 140 of you on Wednesday!), we send out our full event guide on a Monday. You can find the web copy of the email here. Friday’s edition of the Scoop is a bit of a mix of everything.

From The Papers 📰
Here are news stories that aren't crime or politics from around the town over the past few days that you might want to know about.
📕 Birchwood author Conrad Jones has released the fourth book in his On the Mersey series, which has already hit number one on Amazon. The crime novels explore Merseyside’s drug underworld and cuckooing. Conrad has written over 35 books and recently signed a major 10-book publishing deal with Joffe Books. (Warrington Guardian)
💐 Woolston florist La Beau Fleurs gave out five free bouquets to members of the public on February 17 to mark Random Acts of Kindness Day. Owner Rachel Peers said the goal was to lift spirits and spread kindness across the community with a simple but meaningful gesture. (Warrington Guardian)
🚢 A free light and sound event celebrating Latchford Locks is coming to Warrington Rowing Club on March 5 and 6, from 6pm to 9pm. Created by artist Sarah Harris, it will feature exhibitions, recordings, and a new outdoor installation. Residents are invited to attend and share memories of the canal. (Warrington Guardian)

4T’s Brewery Open Day Returns 🍺

Did you manage to get to one of their open days last year? I’ve not been myself, but everyone I have spoken to has said how good they are. I mean…. drinking beer and eating food inside a brewery…. what’s not to like?

Grappenhall Rectory Restoration 🏗️
I know the Scoop readers love history, and I kept seeing an account pop up called @therectorygrappenhall, which is documenting the restoration of a neglected Georgian rectory in the heart of Grappenhall Village.
Built in the 1820s, the building has Gothic Revival and Victorian links, and the owners are sharing the renovation step by step.
They’ve already gained over 6,000 followers in just a few weeks, which shows how much interest there is.

Symphonic Ibiza Returns 🎶

Symphonic Ibiza is coming to Golden Square’s Old Market Place, bringing iconic Ibiza dance anthems to Warrington with a full live orchestra, DJ Andy Joyce, powerful vocals, and immersive visuals.

Food and Drink News 🍽️

🇲🇽 One of Warrington’s favourite food venues, Cafe At The End Of The Universe, has opened a new Mexican-themed takeaway called Taco Ovni, which looks amazing. Please follow them on Facebook if you can.
🛍️ An event we missed in our Monday email was the Woodlands Artisan Market, run by D&D Markets. That returns this Saturday. It’s always a popular one, let’s hope the weather stays nice for all the traders.
🍽️ Ego in Stockton Heath is closing for a few weeks while it undergoes a full refurbishment. It will reopen on Friday, 27th March.

Warrington Shout Outs 🏃♂️
🏃 Number 9 Cafe in Great Sankey has recently launched a running club. They run every Sunday at 9:20.
🚜 Stretton Young Farmers Club charity tractor run takes place Sunday 22nd February, starting 11am at The Antrobus Arms. It’s raising money for Halton Haven Hospice, with tractors passing through local villages.
🎸 Grammy-winning guitarist Tommy Emmanuel will perform at Parr Hall on July 29 at 7.30pm as part of his Living in the Light tour. The Australian music legend won a Grammy in 2024 and has played worldwide. Tickets start at £36 and go on sale Friday at 10am.
🐑 Bates Farm has announced the return of its popular lambing experience, with lambs due to arrive in early March. Visitors will be able to meet and hold the lambs, watch live births if lucky, and enjoy coffee and treats. Tickets are limited, and early sign-up is recommended before they sell out.
🧑🎨 Entries are now open for the Stockton Heath Festival Art Exhibition, taking place at St Thomas’ Church from July 2 to 5. Local artists of all levels can submit up to two pieces, with entry costing £5 per work. The public will vote for a winner, with entries closing on June 19.

Warrington Wordle 🧠
A nice, easy 4-letter Wordle today. This ones staying on the theme of street names in town. Don’t go cheating on Google maps 😉 🤣

Here are a few highlights from the Scoop socials this week.
🤔 Can you guess where we were in this video below? Let us know in the comments below.
🎲 We created the Warrington Board game (yes, with the help of AI, just for a bit of fun). It came up with great card ideas!

Thanks 👍️
