Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop. The newsletter that only covers the good stuff happening around town.

It’s been lovely weather this week on the Warrington Riviera, hasn’t it? 😎 Let’s hope the weather lasts until the weekend.

P.S. Here is a web copy of Monday’s events guide to remind you what’s on this weekend (saves you searching back through your emails). We are also working on the latest Warrington Scoop Podcast this weekend, but have a listen to our other episodes here.

Fancy a night of Dancing Queens, Super Troupers, and singing along until your voice gives out? Statham Lodge is putting on An Evening with ABBA on Friday, 30th October 2026, arrival 7pm. £45 per person gets you a glass of fizz on arrival, a two-course dinner, and a proper night of entertainment.

To book, call 01925 752 204 or email [email protected].

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🏓 Plans have been submitted to build three new padel courts at Birchwood Community Hub, which would be a great addition for the area (Warrington Guardian)

🎨 After a five year wait, local artist Gail Stubbings finally has a plaque placed next to her stunning artwork on the side of Roebuck Plaza on Academy Street. The piece celebrates Warrington's rich history and took six months of research including walking miles to visit every building featured. If you haven't seen it, it is well worth a look next time you are in town. (Warrington Guardian)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Warrington marked St George's Day in style yesterday with a celebration at the Town Hall organised by Mayor Mo Hussain. There was a flag raising ceremony, a performance from Sacred Heart School Choir, and a Viking re-enactment society doing battle with St George on the lawns. (Warrington Worldwide)

The Circus Is In Town 🎪

Circus Funtasia is coming to Bennetts Recreation Ground in Warrington from 30th April for 10 days, and it looks like a brilliant family day out. Under the big top, you can expect motorbike daredevils in the Globe of Death, aerialists, jugglers, trampolining gymnasts, laser shows, and comedy from The Geek. There are two shows on most days, so it is easy to fit around the family. If you are looking for something a bit different to do over the next couple of weeks, this is well worth a look.

Here’s the latest from the Warrington Scoop socials. There are some big plans for next week's socials!

🤔 Where are we this week….. but more importantly, does anyone know what the thing is that the red arrow is pointing to in the video?

🔨 We popped down to visit Jo from Dreamdoors. If you’re after a new kitchen (but without all the faff), she explains the process.

🚗 We haven’t posted a meme in a while, but we know your like ones about the traffic, and this one went down well.

🏎 Are you a car fan? VR Supercars, based in Warrington, had a very rare McLaren Senna at their dealership this week. It's a truly amazing car, and they put together this video talking about what they liked about the car.

🎻 I came across this when scrolling social media. It's a Fleetwood Mac candlelight experience. I’ve been to a Beatles one in Liverpool, which was amazing, and it’s good to see we have a similar event in Warrington now.

🚲 There’s a 10km bike ride happening this weekend that starts from Westbrook Library. It's a free guided ride in partnership with British Cycling.

🐱 Bob is a 17-year-old cat at Warrington Cat Centre who arrived after his owner sadly passed away and has been waiting for a new home for almost 100 days. He is a big character with plenty of charm and loves a fuss. Find out more about him here.

🚣 The Sankey Canal Restoration Society is looking for volunteers to help restore England's first industrial canal. The next work party is at Winwick Lock on Saturday, 25th April, from 10am to 2pm, clearing vegetation around the lock. All tools and equipment are provided; you just need old clothes and sturdy boots.

Got anything to shout about? Reply to this email and let us know.

Theres a new food outlet opening soon called “Between Bread” (I think it’s a great name) on Padgate station. Give them a follow on Instagram if you can.

Number 9 in Great Sankey has launched its new food menu.

Poll results from Monday 📊

In Monday’s email, I asked you what your favourite green space was in Warrington, and here are the results. Mine has to be Walton Gardens…. It’s cheap and has a bit of everything.

One that got a lot of comments I missed was Risley Moss, and many people said they liked walking along the Bridgewater Canal.

Warrington Wordle 🧠

A record number of people played last week! I keep saying it, but Wordle will come to an end this year, and I will have to find a new game for you all, or maybe it can just become a general Wordle thats not Warrington related. Would you still play if it were? Let me know, as this newsletter is about you, not me.

Thanks 👍

Thanks for reading The Warrington Scoop today.

If you found this useful, please share it with someone who loves to go to IKEA at peak times on a Saturday afternoon... 🤣

Catch you on Monday.

Mike
