Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

I met someone the other day who moved to the UK from South Africa 20 years ago. He's lived in a lot of places across England and reckons Warrington is the best of the lot (I didn’t prompt him to say that, haha). He said people just don't realise how good they've got it here….. obviously, I agreed 😀. If you agree, reply to this email and let me know what your favourite thing about Warrington is.

In today’s Scoop:

  • A massive events guide 🗓

  • Can you guess where we are this week? 🗓

  • House of the week (A barn conversion) 🏠

  • And lots more good stuff!

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🧸 Gulliver's World is hosting its Toy Bank Weekend on 25th and 26th April in support of KidsOut, a charity that helps children living in women's refuges. Bring a new unused toy when you arrive and tickets are reduced to just £15 for adults and children. (Warrington Worldwide)

🍰 Joanne Denbow opened Joanne Lynda's Cake Shed from her front garden in Padgate earlier this month and sold out by 2pm on her very first day. Named after her late mum who taught her to bake, it is a lovely story. (Warrington Guardian)

🌊 Good news for Penketh and Great Sankey residents. 221 local homes are now better protected from flooding following the completion of the £7 million Penketh and Whittle Flood Risk Management Scheme. (Warrington Guardian)

Can you guess where we were in this video? It’s one of the best places for a view over Warrington on a sunny day! There are some lovely comments on this one….. and some funny ones as well.

What's your favourite green space in Warrington?

House of the week 🏠

I don’t know about you, but I could spend hours on Rightmove looking at random houses (and I’m not even moving house). This is the one that stood out to me today. A beautiful 1820s barn conversion in the heart of Lower Stretton village, on Hall Lane, at £435,000. Full of character throughout with exposed beams, port-hole windows and two feature fireplaces.

Click here to view it on Rightmove.

Thanks 👍
