Plus: Warrington Wordle, shout outs and image of the week
SPONSORED BY T1 GOLF SPORTS VILLAGE
Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
Before the day runs away with you, here’s a quick wander through what’s been happening around town in a nice 3-minute read/scroll 🙂
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️
P.S. If you are new here, we send out an email on Mondays that is our big what’s-on guide for the week, and you can find a web copy here.

If you’re looking for something to do then foot golf course at T1 has just reopened this year. It’s just £6 per person and a good way to get the kids (and grown-ups) outside for a bit.
They also have:
Two brand new padel courts
An indoor football pitch
A newly opened carp fishing lake
A cafe serving food all day
If you pop down, tell them you saw it in The Warrington Scoop.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.
🏡 Lymm has officially submitted its bid to become the UK's first ever Town of Culture 2028, with a top prize of £3 million up for grabs. A national shortlist is expected this spring. (Warrington Worldwide)
🏳️🌈 Warrington Pride is returning to Golden Square on Saturday 13th June, running from 12pm to 7pm. Free to attend, family friendly, with a full day of performers, traders and entertainment. (Warrington Guardian)
🚴 Lymm's Rik Hulme is cycling 2,500 miles from Lymm Cross to Athens in June, raising money for Parkinson's Disease charities including Warrington's own Rock Steady Boxing. (Warrington Worldwide)
It’s been a busy on the Scoop socials lately with a real mix of places you might not know about (a big part of the Scoop) as well as a few where are we videos that you all seem to like.
This was the most popular video below on Facebook, with over 150k views, of a seal spotted in the Mersey… don’t worry, he (or she) is fine and apparently seen down there quite a bit.
🤔 Where are we in this video? A lot of people commented about walking on the wall when they were younger.
💥 Did you know theres a comic book shop upstairs in the market? Well…. now you do!
📷️ I was walking down Bridge Street and couldn’t quite help notice the contrast between the lower and upper parts of this building.
🍭 Theres a sweet shop in Warrington Market thats been in the town for 75 years, and judging by the comments, you all love it.

Rocco’s & Rugby Festival 2026
If you are after a brilliant day out in June, this one looks like it could be a cracker. Rocco's and Rugby Festival is on Saturday 6th June at Monk Sports Club, running from 10:30am to 10pm, and tickets start from just £6. You get three rugby matches, a full evening of live music including The Blueberry Hawks and Cry Havoc, a kids fun fair and loads of food traders. It's a charity event too, so every penny goes to a good cause.

🏉 Warrington take on Leigh Leopards again this weekend at the Halliwell Jones in the quarter final of the challenge cup.
🚗 There is a charity car wash this weekend at Penketh Fire Station from 10am to 4pm.
⚽️ Warrington Rylands are after players for their under 9’s team.
🏃 Warrington Parkrun has a Pacer Event this Saturday 11th April hosted by Lymm Tri Club, with pacers covering times from 21 to 40 minutes plus a power walker.

☕️ This mention is what the Scoop is all about (it’s something I didn’t know about myself), but I was emailed and told about The Orchard Tea Garden that reopened today behind Spirit Restaurant in Victoria Park. More info here.
🦈 The Plaice Station chippy thats on Padgate Station sadly announced that its closing after 19 years, but they do say something new is coming.
🍛 Grumpy Northern Foodie who does a lot of food reviews in and around Warrington popped down to the East Orient Chinese Buffet to give his verdict.
🍺 The White Hart pub have just launched their new spring menu.
🍺 The Rum House (formally, Owens Bar) is opening on the 17th of April.
Warrington Image of the Week 📸
Steve, a Warrington based photographer got in touch to share a photo that he had taken and I said I would share it with the Scoop readers for him. He has done a lovely job of framing the image with the 2 bridges over the Manchester Ship Canal. Feel free to give him a follow.

Don’t forget we have the Warrington Scoop podcast as well. Our latest episode focused on men's mental health, but you can listen to the back catalog of all our episodes here.
