Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

While putting this together throughout the week and realised how much random local stuff I’d saved over the last few days, so here’s your regular Friday catch-up with the good stuff thats happening around town.

In today’s Scoop:

  • Warrington spring clean litter pick returns (and how you can get involved) 🚮

  • There is a K-Pop circus coming to town in March 🎪

  • We visit Steve from Lizard Inc Records 🎵

  • Warrington shout-outs 📣

  • Warrington Wordle 🧠

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

P.S. If you joined over the past few days, you can find a web copy of Monday’s email here, which listed 66 things to do in Warrington 😲

Gandeys K-POP Dragon Circus 🎪

I saw this and thought it was something you’d love, especially if you’ve got kids or fancy something different. Gandeys Circus is in Warrington from Thursday, 5th March to Sunday, 15th March at the Halliwell Jones Stadium car park. Shows run most days, with tickets from £9.99.

From The Papers 📰

Here are some stories that are not crime or politics from around the town over the past few days that you might want to know about (not a lot to choose from).

🏁 A Warrington student has raised £3,690 for mental health charity Mind by organising a go-karting championship at TeamSport. Lauren Gillbanks ran the Warrington Sprint Cup as part of her university project, bringing together drivers and local businesses for a day of racing and fundraising activities. (Warrington Worldwide)

🌳 Warrington Borough Council has opened a public consultation on plans to upgrade a 650-metre stretch of the Sankey Valley Park path between Gale Avenue and Cromwell Avenue. Improvements include widening the path, replacing a wooden bridge, adding benches, and creating a new toucan crossing. Residents can share feedback until March 23. (Warrington Guardian)

✋ Comedian Jason Manford has been named the new president of the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust near Lymm, taking over from the late Sir Bobby Charlton. Jason has supported the charity since 2009 and helped raise over £150,000. The trust provides free breaks and experiences for children across the North West facing serious illness, disability, or hardship. (Warrington Guardian)

200 volunteers needed for Great British Spring Clean 2026

The Great British Spring Clean returns from 13th to 29th March 2026, and Warrington Litter Volunteers are organising 21 litter picks across the town,

In 2025, Warrington volunteers collected 1,170 bags of litter, setting a local record and placing the town third in the entire country. I went to one of the events last year, and it was great, and I’ll be going again this year.

Jill Dance, known locally as “the Ladybug,” said:
“We are preparing 21 litter picks all over Warrington. Most will take place at weekends, each with 10 places available to book. All equipment is provided. Litter picking is a really positive experience. Please book a place and join us.”

Each session is fully organised, beginner-friendly, and open to anyone who wants to make a difference. It’s also a great way to meet others and take pride in the town.

If you’d like to take part, you can book your place here (this link should be working from tomorrow, but we will send out a new link on Monday if it isn’t):
