Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

Every week, without fail, I put this guide together and I'm surprised all over again by how much goes on in this town. This week there's Viking training in Orford, a zombie drum parade down Sankey Street, a 70s disco tribute at Parr Hall and a film festival about the weird and the wonderful…. as well as some Halloween parties.

P.S. If you're after a fireworks guide, you'll find it in Friday's email.

Twice a week this lands in 16,800 Warrington inboxes, rounding up the good stuff happening around town.

It’s free and it always will be. But if the Scoop has ever sent you somewhere good, you can back it for £2 a month. It helps cover the cost of sending it and getting it to more people across town.

Since I last asked, Dan, Karin, Andy and Karen have joined our supporters. Dan said he just hopes more people read it. Me too, Dan.

We’re on 49 supporters. Can we get to 100 by Christmas?

[Back the Scoop for £2 a month] (no sign-up, or leave a one-off tip)

🍻 Congratulations to Amanda Crilly, general manager of The Waterside, who has been named one of Greene King's nine General Managers of the Year. The awards were announced at the company's Managed Pub Conference in Manchester.

🎄 Janet got in touch to tell us about the Gemini Musical Theatre Company's Christmas Gala Concert, which is at Parr Hall on Sunday 20th December at 7:30pm. They're joined by the Manchester Opera Orchestra for a festive evening of choral and orchestral music, from well-loved Christmas favourites to bigger orchestral and choral works. More details here.

🌍 Warrington Museum is launching a new free exhibition on Saturday 21st November, Emergency on Planet Earth: The Cost of Pollution, which runs until 21st February. On launch day at 11am, archivist Philip Jeffs is giving a free talk, The Fight For Clean Air, on how pollution shaped Warrington and the long campaign for cleaner air. It's about an hour long and you need to book, as places are limited.

🚌 Fancy a job with 13 weeks off a year? Warrington’s Own Buses is hiring two part-time drivers for its school contract, getting students to and from school and college. It’s Monday to Friday, built around the school calendar, and you’re still paid for 20 hours a week throughout the year, even during the holidays. Check out the full post for details on how to apply.

What’s on this week? 📆
