IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

We’ve been so busy that we forgot that the Scoop celebrated its 1-year birthday last week. We have grown from 0 to 7,500 subscribers in our first year, which is more than we could have hoped for.

This newsletter is all about you, and we wanted to say a big thank you by hosting a giveaway for our loyal readers (more information on this below).

In today’s Scoop:

  • Warrington residents will be getting a 4th bin……(for food waste) ♻️

  • New brunch spot opens in town 🥓

  • We visit the perfect gift shop 🛍️

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

P.S. If you're looking for our guide to what’s on this weekend, it was sent out in Monday’s email here.

£40 Voucher Giveaway 🎉

The Scoop Turns 1, and as a little thank you, we're going to buy the lucky winner a £40 voucher for The Grill on the Square. Our welcome email asks people what their favourite restaurant is, and The Grill on the Square is the place you voted best in Warrington in your welcome emails.

This giveaway is only open to current readers (that’s you!), and entering couldn’t be easier.

Just reply to this email with the word “winner” and you’ll be in the draw.

We’ll pick one lucky reader at random on Monday, which gives you plenty of time to enter. Don’t forget to tell your friends who are signed up for The Scoop emails 😃

Makers Market This Weekend 🛍️

Don’t forget the Makers Market is back at Time Square this weekend.

Your New Favourite Brunch Spot? 🥯

There’s a new cafe opened on the corner of Sankey and Legh Street (where 9 Gallon used to be) called Alma.

Have you been in and tried yet? Let us know what you thought, as it certainly seemed popular. Here is a link to their Instagram.

Did You Listen To Our Podcast Last Week? 🎙️

The second episode of the Warrington Scoop podcast was released last week, and we received some great feedback from the audience, with many of you giving it a listen.

If you haven’t had the chance to listen, you can check it out here (links to all your favourite podcast apps). We talk about what’s happening over the summer, and talk to Walton Gardens about the new baby red squirrels!

Warrington residents will be getting a 4th bin……(for food waste) ♻️

Warrington’s new food waste collections aren’t starting until April 2026, but the council has just confirmed that the caddies will arrive this September.

You’ll get:

  • A 5-litre indoor caddy

  • A 23-litre outdoor caddy

  • A roll of liners

This new service is being introduced by law, and it’ll mean most homes will now have three bins (or four if you use the green bin too).

How do you feel about the new bin?

Warrington Wordle 🧠

Thanks to everyone who has enjoyed Wordle over the past year. I have enjoyed coming up with the answers and love getting replies from people to see how they got on (and how frustrated some of you get 🤣)

Every Wordle is in some way related to Warrington.
