There was quite a bit going on this week. We popped out to film some local businesses you might not have known about, and this is what the Scoop is all about… helping you learn more about our town.
🤓 Did you know that we have a gaming cafe right under Central Station? Doug tells you all about Geek Retreat in the video below, and over 55,000 of you have watched it on Facebook so far.
🎸 Also…. some people didn’t seem to know that the new market has an upstairs? Well, we popped along to visit Alan from A to G music to learn more about his services. There are lots of lovely comments talking about how helpful Alan is.
☕️ Have you visited Dicks Coffee Shop? Rob has been serving coffee to local commuters for 10 years, so we put together a video to tell you more.
🐴 Do you remember Bobo the Donkey, who used to live in Walton Gardens?

Here are some news stories from the local papers that aren't all doom and gloom.
🏃 Warrington endurance runner Chris Ball will take on a 24-hour running challenge on Saturday 28 March to raise funds for the Mayor of Warrington’s chosen charities. He will begin at 9am with Victoria Park’s Parkrun before heading to Orford Park to run continuous laps until 9am on Sunday. (Warrington Worldwide)
💪 A new Fitbox studio and Hyrox training space has opened at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub following a £30,000 investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The upgraded space includes a larger training area, a four-lane sled track, 14 cardio machines, and new equipment. (Warrington Guardian)
👆️ The Hulme area of Warrington could receive up to £20 million in investment over the next decade through the Government’s Pride in Place programme. Warrington Borough Council will oversee the initiative, which aims to strengthen community pride, support local projects and revitalise high streets. (Warrington Guardian)

🎸 Warrington band WINACHI has a busy year ahead with several big hometown shows. They launch their new single at the new Brickhaus venue on 25 April, headline Warrington Music Festival on 6 June, support Starsailor on 25 July at Old Market Place, and appear at Cheshire Fest on 1 August. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram for updates and tickets.

🚢 A while back, we featured a video about Unlock Runcorn (I know, it's not Warrington)… but there are good things happening there. It’s their spring launch day on Friday, 21st of March, and you can learn more about what they are up to.
🙋 Warrington Slimeville opens this weekend. This is what was in the old Brannigans building opposite the Friar Penketh Wetherspoons.
🚮 Last week, we mentioned the Great British Spring Clean, where you can take part in 22 litter picks over the next few weeks, many of which are family-friendly. The good news is that the booking links are now working, so if you fancy helping out, please sign up.
🖼️ A cross between a scavenger hunt and a micro-exhibition is coming to Warrington Museum and Art Gallery this month, running until the 5th of April. Ste Kilb, better known by his moniker Waspdodger, has teamed up with five other Warrington artists to hide a series of tiny artworks around the galleries in the style of a ‘reverse Louvre Heist’.
👔 If you are a business, we have the Warrington Business Expo on the 20th of March at the Village Hotel. It’s a great event for the town, with lots going on throughout the day.

🍟 Are you following Neighbours Reviews? These are 2 Warrington guys are doing great work promoting the Warrington food scene and have been out filming places you might not know about.
🍻 Grappenhall Beer Festival has been announced and will take place on the 8th and 9th of May, featuring over 30 ales and ciders. They will also have some live music.
🍰 An afternoon tea is taking place at the Warrington Town Hall on the 27th of March. These are £17.50 each, with only a few places left.
🍝 Ego in Stockton Heath (a favourite with Scoop readers) has shared some pictures of their refurbishment thats taking place at the moment. Click here for a sneak peek of how it’s looking.
