IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
If you are new here, then know that we are all about feel-good news. You won’t find any crime or politics in this email, as let’s be honest, we are all a bit sick of the negativity in the news, aren’t we? This weekend, we are out recording a new podcast episode for October, but don’t forget to listen to September’s!
In today’s Scoop:
3 new food places open in town this week
We visit the new sculpture in Burtonwood
Wordle, the newsletter’s favourite feature, is back
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️
P.S. For the full weekend guide of what’s on, check out Monday's edition here.

Sponsored by: Penketh and Great Sankey Artisan Market 🛍️ 😀

The Penketh & Great Sankey Artisan Market has a new home. From Saturday 20th September, you’ll find it at the Penketh & Great Sankey Con Club on Meeting Lane.
It runs 10am–4pm with over 50 artisan stalls, street food, live music by Olly Flavell, plus free activities for kids including face painting, a family show, and a crafting workshop.
If you’ve been before, you’ll know it’s a brilliant day out, and if you haven’t, this is the perfect chance to see what it’s all about.

New Openings Around Town
Warrington has been spoilt this week with 3 new food places and one new bar opening across town.
Here’s the Scoop on them all.
Krispy Kreme Drive Through 🍩
Firstly, we now have a Krispy Kreme drive-through. This can be found near Sainsbury’s on the A57 retail park. We will give it a visit soon and maybe do a little video. The only issue is, you can never go and just order 1 donut can you? 😃
Pesto opens at the Walton Arms 🇮🇹

On Monday, Pesto opened its doors to the public. You can find them in the Walton Arms and I think it will do really well there.
I agree with people's comments about how it's sad when a pub closes, but Pesto does a great job when they take over a place, and it’s something a bit different. We often visit the one in Widnes, but it’s great to have one in Warrington now. You can still pop in for just a pint as well.
Let us know if you have been and what you thought of it.
Follow them on Facebook here.
Quaker Coffee @ Padgate Railway Station ☕️

Finally, we noticed that a new locally run cafe at Padgate railway station opened on Tuesday.
You can find links to their drink menu here and food menu here. It’s always good to see independent businesses opening up and we wish them the best of luck. If you end up visiting, let them know you heard about them in the Warrington Scoop.
Friars Court is Reopening
I’m sure this was a lot of people's favourite bar many years ago, and the good news is that it’s reopening again on Saturday, the 20th of September. Massive TVs and a stage for bands, as well as a good selection of beers…. sounds great!
Here is a link to a great video they made showing you around.

Road closures This Sunday 🛑
As mentioned in Monday's email, it’s the Warrington Running Festival this weekend. It’s a big event that takes over a lot of the town centre, so that means…… there will be road closures.

Bolt of Lightning Sculpture ⚡️
I took a cycle down to the Bolt of Lightning sculpture that’s been put up on Skyline Drive, not far from junction 8. It’s looking great. There is a short video below that provides more information.
As someone mentioned in the comments, this was not created with council money, as it was funded by Miller Homes.

Warrington Wordle 🧠
No clue for today’s Wordle, I made the last one too easy for you 🤣
As always, let me know how you get on. It was good to get replies from people who are new to Warrington, who managed to get it right.

Thanks 👍️
Thanks for reading The Warrington Scoop today.
If you found this useful, please share it with someone who remembers when Burtonwood airbase still had the hangars and the towers!
Catch you on Friday.
