Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

You can either scroll endlessly today and be convinced we’re all doomed. Or you can read this happy little email, believe life’s not so bad (it might even be good), and have a great day. I hope you choose the second 🙂

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start.

I’m really pleased to share that I’m now welcoming clients in a new space at EA Fitness in Warrington.

My work focuses on helping to release stored tension in the body that can place ongoing strain on the nervous system. When the body is holding this kind of stress, it can contribute to feelings such as anxiety, persistent headaches or migraines, emotional overwhelm, physical discomfort, and long-term stress patterns.

Through gentle, hands-on holistic therapy, we work with the body to encourage release, regulation, and a greater sense of ease.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🏃 Over 40 supporters of St. Rocco's Hospice took part in a virtual 100k in May challenge, collectively covering 2,000km and raising more than £5,000 for patient care. The challenge returns in 2027, so one to keep an eye on if you fancy getting involved. (Warrington Worldwide)

🌟 Warrington's Gail Stubbings, founder of Blooming Art Academy, has been appointed to lead a £20 million, ten-year investment into the Hulme area of north Orford. The Pride in Place project will see local residents, businesses and community groups shape how the funding is spent over the next decade. (Warrington Worldwide)

🍛 The former Eagle and Spaceman pub on Church Street looks set to get a new lease of life, with a sign appearing above the door announcing that Royal India restaurant is opening soon. The pub closed back in December after 18 months of trading. (Warrington Guardian)

Warrington Arts Festival Returns for 2026

Mars by Hugh Fox

Did you manage to get to Warrington Arts Festival last year? It was amazing and they are back again this year.

Running from 18th to 25th July, the 2026 programme is headlined by an awe-inspiring seven-metre sculpture of Mars, created by internationally renowned artist Luke Jerram using detailed NASA imagery, which will hang from the ceiling of Parr Hall throughout the festival. Free to view, it will be accompanied by a specially composed soundscape from a BAFTA and Ivor Novello award-winning composer.

Under the glow of Mars, there will be an astronomy talk, film screenings, yoga and sound baths, plus two nights of live music. Manchester band HENGE play on 23rd July, followed by a rare club night on 24th July with Haçienda legend Dave Haslam joined by Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert from New Order.

Closing the festival on 24th and 25th July, French circus company CirkVOST bring their free outdoor aerial spectacular to Bank Park, featuring 12 acrobats performing 15 metres above ground.

Most events are completely free. For the full programme and to book tickets, visit warringtonartsfestival.org

Warrington Rylands Women FC are looking for players ahead of the new season for both their first and development squads. They offer UEFA qualified coaches, free weekly physio sessions and training twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you fancy giving it a go, message them on Facebook for more details.

🧹 Something new is coming to Warrington Market. Oh My Wash are a local domestic cleaning service covering regular cleans, deep cleans, oven scrubbing and pet and garden clean-ups. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the opening date

🏆 The Manchester Evening News named Warrington one of England's top 10 places to raise a family. We already knew that, but nice to see it in print.

Baby Bean, the new cafe inside The Baby Store Warrington, opened its doors on Saturday 6th June. Just look at that croissant. Enough said.
