Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

How is it Friday again already? Honestly, where does the time go? Here's everything you need to know from around Warrington this week.

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start.

If you're looking for a great spot to watch England's next game, T1 Golf Sports Village in Penketh has just launched its brand new Tiki Bar Garden. I’ve popped down to check it out and it’s really good.

England's first game drew a massive crowd with the indoor bar, outdoor garden and giant screen all packed out. They've got indoor and outdoor seating, a giant outdoor screen, food served all evening, a live DJ and ice-cold beers in frozen glasses. Check out the video from the last game, and you'll see exactly why it was buzzing. England's next game is this Tuesday, so get yourself down there.

Warrington Mayors Litter Pick of 2026

This is the sort of thing the Scoop was made for as it’s all about the people doing great things for our town.

Warrington Litter Volunteers are hosting their biggest litter pick of 2026 on Sunday 28th June, starting at Warrington Town Hall.

Around 100 volunteers are needed to help tidy up the heart of the town, with each route covering 2 to 3 miles. The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Sagheer Zaman, will be joining on the day, and the best footage will be shared with Stacey Dooley's BBC TV team for their upcoming programme about Warrington Litter Pickers. There's also provision for younger children in Bank Park, and the teams will return to Bank Park Pavilion by 11:30am.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🍺 Good news for Lymm. Plans have been submitted to reopen The Church Green pub on Higher Lane following a full refurbishment, after it closed its doors last June. The venue, which was previously named among the 40 best pubs in the UK by The Times, could soon be back open following a significant investment from Star Pubs. (Warrington Guardian)

🎨 The Warrington Guardian has done a lovely feature on BloomingArts, the community art space that Gail has been running since 2013. It's a safe, supportive space for people of all ages and backgrounds to develop their creativity and connect with others. (Warrington Guardian)

🌟 Warrington charity Creating Adventures, which supports adults with autism and learning disabilities, has received funding to hire a part-time Activities and Engagement Coordinator. If you know someone who might be the right fit, full details are at creatingadventures.org.uk (Warrington Worldwide)

🏰 We featured the castle Kickstarter on the socials, which was very popular, and the Kickstarter campaign is still going strong, and the team is looking for more support. You can back the campaign, share it with your friends or get in touch if you have local knowledge, business connections or school links to offer. Every bit of help counts. Back the campaign here.

🚲 Happy 2nd birthday to Warrington Cycle Hub. To celebrate, they're running a birthday week until 22nd June with special offers on clothing, cleaning products and more across the store. Book your bike in this week and you'll be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a helmet and bike lights.

🎣 Tackling Minds are hosting a free introduction to angling day at Partridge Lakes Fishery on Thursday 25th June from 10am to 4pm. All equipment and tuition is provided free of charge, no experience needed. It's a great chance to get outdoors, support your mental health and meet new people.

🏃 Warrington Running Club are bringing pacers to Warrington Parkrun this Saturday 20th June, with friendly pacers for all abilities to help you hit your target time. A great opportunity if you've been chasing a personal best.

🌱 St Elphin's Park are looking for volunteer gardeners to help keep the park looking beautiful. No experience needed, just a spare few hours on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 10am and 2pm. Pop into the Pavilion Tea Rooms for a cuppa and a chat if you fancy getting involved.

🎪 Penketh Summer Fayre is taking place at Penketh Primary School this Saturday 20th June from 10am to 4pm. Free entry, with games, live entertainment, small rides, a tombola, treats and a dog show with entries on the day.

🥁 While Warrington Walking Day isn't going ahead this year, Padgate and Woolston are keeping the tradition alive with their own Walking Day this Saturday 20th June at 2:30pm. A lovely local tradition well worth going out to support.

A quiet week on the socials this week, but here’s one video about the new roadworks that are taking place on Sankey Street and Bold Street. What’s your thoughts on that?

🍰 Momiji Bakery is opening this Saturday 20th June at Hatters Row on Horsemarket Street, serving Japanese-style cakes, croissants, pastries and more. Open Thursday to Friday 9:30am to 2pm and Saturdays 9:30am to 4pm.

🍺 Winwick Beer Festival is back this weekend on 19th and 20th June at Winwick Leisure Centre, with more beers and ciders than ever plus food and entertainment on both days. Advance tickets are £5 from Winwick Leisure Centre and include 2 beer tokens. You can also pay on the door subject to capacity.

☕ Another new coffee shop opening this Saturday! 167 Coffee is opening its doors at 167 Padgate Lane on 20th June. Check them out on Instagram.

This word is Warrington-related (of course), but... It’s a bit different…. but relatable once you get it.

As always, let me know how you get on my replying to this email. A few of you struggled with the last one, but this ones just 4 letters.

Thanks 👍

Thanks for reading The Warrington Scoop today.

If you found this useful, please share it with someone who isn’t happy that walking day has been cancelled.

Catch you on Monday.

Mike
