Wrapping up 2025 in Warrington

Stuff to do, stuff to know, and maybe a Wordle.

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

Today's Scoop is the last one for 2025, as we will be taking a break over Christmas and the New Year, with the next newsletter being sent out on the 2nd or 5th of January.

  • Some events you might like for NYE 🥳

  • A what’s on guide for the week 🗓️

  • A bonus Warrington Wordle 🧠

  • House of the week 🏠️

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

Carols From The Cross 🎵

Carols from the Cross is one of those proper local traditions that really mark the start of Christmas. Every year, Lymm village fills up with people, all wrapped up and ready to sing along.

It’s back again on Christmas Eve at Lymm Cross, starting at 6.30pm. The Parish Council has put in behind-the-scenes work to keep things running.

There’s live music, special guests, and lyric sheets so everyone can join in. It’s one of those events that gets people in the spirit without trying too hard. If you’ve been before, you already know. If you haven’t, this is a good year to start.

The Year in Scoop Highlights 👀

I’ve compiled a bit of a list about what YOU, the Scoop readers, have enjoyed the most this year.

1. You love local history
Historical pieces always perform strongly in the newsletter. The alleyway bridge story was the most-watched video, with the old central train station and church features close behind. These sections get some of the highest reply rates, too, with readers adding memories and stories of their own, which I always love to hear.

2. Food always gets people talking
Food content consistently gets clicked and shared. Danny’s Kitchen was the standout this year, with hundreds of comments and plenty of follow-up messages. The brewery's open days at 4T’s Brewery always go down well, with the owner emailing me to say people were going in after reading about it in the newsletter.

3. The yellow car…..
Some stories just take on a life of their own. The yellow car outside Gemini became the most-viewed video of the year, surpassing 550,000 views. When it was shared in the newsletter, engagement spiked again. The car was gone the next day. Coincidence… or timing?

4. From the Papers still matters
This section is always popular, getting 100’s of clicks per email. People love the positive local stories, especially when most news feels a bit gloomy and doomy.

5. The newsletter keeps growing
The Scoop has now passed 9,500 subscribers. Replies, forwards, and word-of-mouth sign-ups keep rising. A lot of readers say it’s part of their routine now, which is exactly what I hoped for when I started it.

If you’ve got ideas for 2026, or something you’d like to see more of, just hit reply and let me know.
