It’s the first full week of half term for a lot of you this week, and hopefully some of the stuff in this email will help you find things to do. Let us know if you got up to much at the weekend; if it’s something a bit different, we can always share it with the Scoop readers.

🎪 We didn’t manage to get to see CirkVOST due to other commitments, but a friend sent us this footage of the event on Saturday night and said it was a great show. Just a shame about the weather cutting it short.

🚗 Last week we posted about an abandoned car in Golden Square Car Park, with a lot of you telling us about another car in Time Square Car Park…. so we went over to check it out haha. It seems you like this kinda content 🤷

🦇 Did you know that the new Batman movie was being filmed over the weekend on the old Runcorn bridge? It was shut all over the weekend, but here’s a clip we found on social media showing some of the filming.

🔬 If you're looking for a great day out with the kids this summer, Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes is well worth a visit. There are hands-on workshops, interactive exhibits and plenty of activities running throughout the holidays, with workshops from just £2.75 on top of admission.

🕰 As part of Heritage Open Days, the Friends of Walton Estate are hosting a special open day on Sunday 13th September. Entry is completely free, so pop the date in your diary and them us to learn more about the estate’s heritage, meet the passionate volunteers and see Walton through a different lens.

🐺 Warrington Wolves are marking their 150th anniversary with a free exhibition at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, running from 25th July until 27th September. Featuring historic memorabilia, rare photographs and interactive displays, it tells the story of the club from its roots in the town's wire industry right through to the present day.

🎉 Learn Active NW are running a Summer Fun Fest at Priestley College on Loushers Lane from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th August, 9am to 1pm. It's aimed at ages 6 to 13 and includes multi-sports, arts and crafts, baking, Nerf Wars, inflatables and a healthy lunch.

⚽ Daten FC are looking for one more ambitious U11 or U12 player to join their squad for the 2026/27 season. Training is every Tuesday and Friday in WA3, with matches on Saturdays. If your child fancies giving it a try, drop them a message on Facebook.

🍽 The Plough Inn in Croft is offering free meals with every adult meal during the summer holidays.

♻️ If you live in South Warrington, this is worth knowing about. There's a petition to challenge the proposed closure of the Sandy Lane Recycling Centre in Stockton Heath, with the deadline to sign being Thursday 30th July. The centre currently handles 241 tonnes of waste per month and residents are concerned that closing it will increase traffic, put pressure on other sites and lead to more fly tipping in the area.

🧺 July is National Picnic Month and the Guardian has put together a handy guide to the seven best picnic spots in Warrington, including Walton Hall and Gardens, Lymm Dam, Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden, Moore Nature Reserve and a few more. (Warrington Guardian)

🎢 Gulliver's World has been named the seventh most affordable theme park in the UK, with children's entry at £25.50. Not bad if you're looking for a summer day out that won't break the bank. (Warrington Guardian)

🍺 A lovely bit of nostalgia this week as fond memories of the Manx Arms on School Brow come flooding back. The much-loved pub was demolished in 2018 but a Facebook post has sparked a wave of stories from former regulars and staff. (Warrington Guardian)
