Sponsored by Mamar’s Aritsan Bakery and & Licensed Delicatessen 🍞
Mamars is an artisan bakery and licensed deli inside The Hive on Sankey Street, open Monday to Saturday from 8:30am. They bake their own sourdough and breads fresh on site, and the deli counter is stocked with artisan cheeses, cured meats, and produce from independent traders. It is also a great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.
🦆 The Lymm Charity Duck Race is back on Easter Monday, April 6, organised by Lymm and District Round Table. Thousands of rubber ducks will be released at 12.30pm, with entertainment, stalls, and an Easter Food Fest from 10.30am. Standard duck tickets are £2 (Warrington Guardian)
🦕 Bents Garden and Home in Glazebury has submitted plans to open a dinosaur trail this summer, running for 10 weeks from June 29 to September 6. The trail would feature 33 model dinosaurs up to 4.7 metres tall, with moving parts, sound effects, fossil digs, and actors along the route. Warrington Borough Council is set to make a decision by April 13. (Warrington Guardian)
❤️ A Warrington couple are volunteering in Cambodia and running 100 metres for every £1 donated to help fund a free English school supporting over 370 children from some of the country's poorest families. Lewis Hoather and Emma Woods from Fearnhead are in Siem Reap for four weeks. (Warrington Guardian)

It’s been a quiet one on the socials this weekend, but we did get down to visit the 4T’s brewery day, which we featured at the top of last week’s newsletter. If you want an idea of what it’s like, check out the video below.
🤔 Can you guess where we were in this video?

🛑 So, while this isn’t a shout-out, it’s something you might need to know about. Highway improvement works are starting on Sankey Street on the 13th of April, with restrictions in place for up to 32 weeks. The works will be done in phases to try and keep disruption to a minimum, but expect road and footway closures around Sankey Street, Bold Street, Legh Street, and Regent Street while it's all going on.
🌳 A reader called Sam got in touch to share something we thought was worth highlighting. Did you know Warrington has its own ancient woodland? Ancient woodland is land that has been continuously wooded since at least 1600, and it only covers 2.5% of the UK. We have patches of it right here, including Twig Wood in Old Hall near Sankey Valley, the Dingle in Stockton Heath, and areas in Higher Walton and around Lymm Dam. Not something many people know about, so thanks, Sam, for the tip! There is a link to the map here, but you will need to zoom in on Warrington.
🎸 Warrington four-piece Punch-In have just dropped their second single, 'This Is Not an Intervention'. Blending indie rock, new wave, and post-punk, they're one of the most exciting local bands to emerge from the town in a while. Their debut sold out Peggy McCools, and they're already playing Manchester shows, so it's worth getting on board now.
House of the Week 🏠️

Sometimes we list expensive houses (as who doesn’t want to have a nosey at the best houses on the market)…. and today is one of those.
This week, it's Old Village Farm on Ferry Lane in Thelwall, a stunning 5-bed gated property with over 3,300 sq ft of beautifully renovated living space, on the market for £1,395,000. Five double bedrooms, four en-suites, a show-stopping open-plan kitchen with bi-fold doors, and a converted garage gym. Have a nosey at the full listing at Declan James.
Activity Angels April Calendar 🗓️
Activity Angels is a Warrington community organisation on a mission to reduce loneliness and social isolation by bringing adults together through activities and events. Check out their website here, which has a bigger link to their calendar.
Thanks 👍️
Thanks for reading The Warrington Scoop today.
If you found this useful, please share it with someone who keeps trying to mess with the books at Joseph James Furniture Outlet (they have put up signs now to stop people from doing it).
Catch you on Friday.
