New Podcast Episode is Out: Helping Warrington Men With Their Mental Health
Our latest podcast episode is an important one. Around 1 in 8 men experience depression or anxiety, yet men are far less likely to seek help than women. In the UK, suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50, which is why conversations like this one matter so much.
In this episode, we sit down with mental health advocate Lee Payton, who shares his own journey and discusses the support available right here in Warrington, including Andy's Man Club, Warrington Wolves Offload, TalkHub, and More Than Men.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please have a listen here (links to all your favourite podcast apps). You are not alone and help is closer than you think.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.
๐ A 90-year-old Woolston woman got the birthday surprise of a lifetime when her grandson posted on Facebook asking for help getting her a motorcycle sidecar ride around the neighbourhood she's spent her whole life in. Total strangers rallied together to make it happen, and by all accounts, she didn't stop smiling the entire time. Lovely stuff. (Warrington Guardian)
๐๏ธ Great Sankey's Josh Summersgill has won gold at the British Masters Weightlifting Championship in Birmingham, lifting a total of 259 kilos across his six lifts without missing a single one. He broke two British records in the process and will now represent Warrington at the European Championships in June. (Warrington Worldwide)
๐ณ Walton Hall and Gardens, which attracts over 400,000 visitors a year, has been hailed as seeing its "better days" after a decade of transformation. The past year alone has seen a new pedestrian footbridge, drainage works, courtyard restoration, and even a new electric ice cream van. (Warrington Guardian)

Warrington's Litter Heroes ๐๏ธ

Warrington's volunteer litter pickers have just smashed their own record during the Great British Spring Clean. Over two weeks, the town's litter teams completed 24 public events and collected a massive 1,571 bags of litter, up 34% on last year's record of 1,170 bags. The Scoop was lucky enough to attend one of these picks and spoke to Tony Dixon. You can view the video here.
Three separate days saw over 100 bags collected, with one incredible double century. The campaign covered parks including Orford, Victoria and Black Bear, as well as the Sankey Valley and Trans Pennine Trail. 30 new volunteers joined during the campaign, along with support from the Wolves PDRL team and 200 primary school children and scouts. There are now almost 4,000 members of litter networks across the borough. If you fancy getting involved, find your nearest team at litternetworks.org

There are plenty of shout-outs this weekโฆ only the good stuff, of course!
