Warrington Wellbeing Walk and Extreme Day Trips

Plus, 16 Things To Do This Week, From The Papers and More

Good morning, Warrington. This is The Warrington Scoop. The local newsletter that’s like completing a workout you almost skipped 😊

We have moved everyone over from our old publication, “From Warrington”, which you may have signed up for. If you missed our past few emails talking about moving to the new brand and wondered who we are, then don’t worry; everything stays the same, just the name has changed 🙂

In today's edition:

  • Warrington Wellbeing Walk 🍃 🚶

  • Extreme Day Trips – Fly Out, Be Back by Bedtime ✈️

  • 16 Things to Do in Warrington This Week 🗓️

  • Plus, From The Papers, The Weather and the Sport 😃

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

P.S. If you are new here (we had over 100 people join over the weekend), we only focus on positive things happening across town (no crime or politics).

Warrington Wellbeing Walk – Join In and Get Involved 🌿

A new community event is happening next week – the first-ever Warrington Wellbeing Walk at Moore Nature Reserve. It’s a chance to get outdoors, connect with others, and learn about local mental health support.

The idea started as a small chat between a couple of groups but has grown into something much bigger, with local businesses, community groups, and mental health organisations all coming together to help break the stigma around mental health.

After the walk, there’ll be stalls and gazebos with information from various support groups, making it easier to find help if needed – no judgment, just support.

A big thanks to The Shed Moore for hosting everyone after the walk.

It’s a simple idea - go for a walk, have a chat, and see what’s out there. If you’re free, why not come along?

Extreme Day Trips – Fly Out, Be Back by Bedtime ✈️

Ever thought about hopping on a plane for the day?

It sounds mad, but Warrington’s location makes it one of the best places in the country for these kinds of adventures.

With Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport just 25 minutes away (especially in the early morning when there’s no traffic), its the perfect place to take off and be back in time for bed.

There are even two great Facebook groups you can join to find the best deals: EDT Manchester and EDT Liverpool.

People post last-minute bargains and trip ideas all the time - some are sunny getaways and others are city breaks.

My Extreme Day Trip to Dublin (An Example)🇮🇪🍺

Last year, I did an extreme day trip to Dublin from Liverpool airport with two mates, and it was a great day out. Flights were just £39 return (Ryan Air), and with my wife kindly dropping us at the airport (cheers) and an Uber back home (£17 between 3 of us), it was easy and affordable.

The flight left at 6:30am. We had breakfast when we landed, and by 10:30am, we were at the Guinness Factory, pint in hand. We spent the day exploring Dublin’s pubs, listening to live music, and soaking up the atmosphere. After dinner and a few more pints, we headed back to the airport for the 9:30pm flight home. A long day, sure – but what an experience.

Weather ⛅️

Here is your forecast for the week ahead in Warrington.

The snow and ice are finally melting! It’s still chilly, but temperatures are on the rise this week, and we’re even seeing some sun in the forecast.

Here’s how it’s looking.

  • Monday: 4°C to 4°C 🌧️ – Rain showers throughout the day, so keep that brolly handy.

  • Tuesday: 8°C to 4°C ☁️ – Cloudy but much warmer than it has been.

  • Wednesday: 7°C to 0°C ☀️ – Finally, a sunny day. Wrap up in the morning, but it’ll feel brighter.

  • Thursday: 5°C to 2°C 🌤️ – Mostly sunny with lighter winds, feeling more like early spring.

  • Friday: 7°C to 2°C ☁️ – Back to cloudy skies, but it stays mild.

Overall, it’s goodbye to icy roads and hello to a bit of normality. Let’s hope this warmer trend sticks around.

Sport 🏉

⚽️ Saturday’s match at Hereford was postponed due to a frozen pitch. Despite efforts to cover the pitch, the freezing temperatures meant the game couldn’t go ahead. Both clubs are now sorting a new date, and this will be confirmed soon. Next up for Warrington Town is Stockport County at home in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.
