New Businesses That Opened Across Warrington in 2024

While we did lose some businesses during 2024, I thought it would be good to quickly highlight some of the new businesses that joined us during 2024.

Highlighting new businesses was also one of your favourite parts of the newsletter (as these parts got plenty of clicks). So here’s a quick look at some that opened.

  • Warrington Cycle Hub - Offers bike hire, secure storage, maintenance courses, servicing, guided rides, and sales of bikes and accessories.

  • The Grand Cocktail Bar's Rooftop Garden - Introduced a new rooftop bar on Bridge Street.

  • Kenji - Expanded its presence by doubling the size of its existing store in Golden Square Shopping Centre.

  • FootAsylum - Launched a 5,000 sq ft store in Golden Square Shopping Centre, offering a range of footwear and apparel.

  • B&M - Opened in late September in the former Wilko unit at Golden Square Shopping Centre, enhancing the retail options for shoppers.

  • TJ Hughes - Opened in the former Debenhams building.

  • Eagle and Spaceman - An American-themed bar that opened on Church Street.

  • Mackbear Coffee - A new coffee shop that opened right in the middle of town.

  • Blossom - A cafe serving great food on Bridge Street (right near the market).

  • Patina - A new bar on Palmyra Square.

  • Lickle - A small cool bar on Suez Street.

  • Religion Coffee - Opened in the Hive.

  • Number 9 - A new cafe on Huntley Street in Great Sankey.

  • Santorini Café - Opened on London Road in Stockton Heath.

  • That Ziki - A new greek place in the market which is very popular.

  • The Coffee House (Cockhedge) - Opened right near Asda.

  • Pop Art - A new woman’s fashion shop in the Forge shopping centre in Stockton Heath.

  • Juniper - An artisan brasserie in Stockton Heath.

  • Krapow Thai Restaurant - Opened in the Hive on Sankey Street.

We can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring. What do you want to see opening in town?

🚧 Traffic Disruption on Winwick Road (A49) Until Spring 🚧

While the newsletter tries to focus on positive things, we did think this was worth knowing about as it will be a nightmare for some of you.

If you have ever driven on Winwick Road when there hasn’t been some sort of roadworks, then please let me know……

SP Energy Networks will begin essential works on Winwick Road (A49) from Monday, 6th January, causing single-lane closures near Hawleys Lane and along the southbound carriageway.

The project involves installing new underground electricity cables to improve Warrington’s power supply. Expect temporary traffic lights and weekend road closures at key junctions. The work is expected to finish by Spring 2025.

If you want to find out more, check out the council’s website.

🎯 Luke Littler - Warrington’s Youngest World Champion 🎯

You’ve probably heard the news by now — Luke Littler, aka The Nuke, has become darts' youngest-ever world champion at just 17, after beating Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final.

Already a household name, is Luke now Warrington’s biggest sports star of all time? With over £1 million in prize money and a trophy cabinet that’s filling fast, this lad from Warrington is making darts history.

What do you think? Let us know if he’s the town’s GOAT

Sport 🏉

⚽️ Warrington Town’s tough run continued with a 1-2 home defeat to King’s Lynn. Despite a Josh Amis header sparking hope in the second half, two quick goals from the visitors proved too much to overcome.

The Yellows showed more fight than in recent matches, but a late equaliser slipped out of reach.
