Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
Well, that one stung. I really thought it would be our year, but Wakefield took the Grand Final on Saturday night and fair play to them. Chin up, Wolves fans, we'll be back. In the meantime there's loads on this week, including a whole Restaurant Week next Monday.
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕

A bit of Warrington history for you
Back in 1848, Warrington became the first town in the country to open a public library paid for out of the rates, years before most of Britain had caught on to the idea. Next time you're nipping into one of our libraries, you're walking into a bit of a national first.
Full Line-Up of Offers Revealed for Warrington Restaurant Week

Warrington Restaurant Week is returning from Monday, October 12th to Sunday, October 18th with restaurants, bars and cafes across the town centre signed up for a week of special menus, discounts and events this October.
In its second year, the event brings together well-known names and independents with offers spanning family meals, lunch dates, evenings out, cocktails, bowling and 2-for-1 tacos.
Organised by Warrington BID, this year's Restaurant Week will run under the theme 'Our Town, Our Table', celebrating the town's food and drink scene and the many different ways people enjoy it.
The line-up includes Costello's Bar, Discobowl, The White Hart, ASK Italian, Dorado Lounge, Mackbear Coffee Co., Taco Bell, The Friar Penketh, and much more to be discovered on the We Are Warrington website.
For the full list of participating businesses, deals and events, visit wearewarringtonbid.co.uk and follow @wearewarrington on Instagram and Facebook.

🍔 Bobby's Burgers & Wings opened its doors on Friday at 7 Barbauld Street, and it's always good to see a new place have a go in town. Burgers and wings is the whole pitch. Give them a follow on Instagram and give them a proper Warrington welcome.
🎅 Warrington Lions are already thinking about Christmas. They're looking for community organisations to help run this year's Sleigh Appeal, in teams of 6 people aged 18+ per night. If your club, team or group fancies it, get in touch with them via their Facebook page.
🎥 Check out this great aerial video from DSM Group showing the latest demolition update at Fiddler's Ferry Power Station. Worth three minutes of your day to see how much has changed.
🍸 We noticed that SQUARE, the brand new bar in the heart of Stockton Heath, has announced it's opening on Friday 16th October. Cocktails, food, live bands and DJs are all promised under one roof, and the sound testing has already started.
