Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
Sometimes these Friday emails end up being the most random because I just add things as I go through the week, which is exactly what happened here, so expect a proper mixed bag today.
In today’s Scoop:
We visit a pop-up dining event in a Warrington cafe 🍽️
Warrington shout outs 📣
A lovely spring photo taken in Warrington 🦊
Some music events with a difference…… 🎵
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️
Sponsored by Dream Doors
Thinking about a new kitchen but not keen on the price tag or weeks of mess? Dream Doors Warrington gives your space a fresh look by replacing doors, worktops, and appliances without ripping everything out. It costs up to 50% less than a full refit, and most jobs finish in just two to three days.
There’s a nice extra at the moment, too. Spend over £6,00,0 and you’ll get a free sink and tap worth up to £600.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.
🚶♂️ A new representative group has been set up to help secure the future of Warrington Walking Day. Made up of church leaders, community members and council officers, the group will focus on long-term planning for the event. A special Walking Day Heritage Event will take place at Bank Park on Saturday 4 July (10am–3pm) featuring readings, hymns, bands and traditional banners. (We Are Warrington)
😄 Residents on Longshaw Street in Dallam are celebrating after winning £1,000 each in the People’s Postcode Lottery draw. The prize went to players living on that street who were signed up to the lottery. The scheme costs £12 per month and raises money for charities across the UK. (Warrington Guardian)
🏫 Two Warrington schools, Meadowside Community Primary and Nursery School and Dallam Community Primary School, have installed solar panels through the Great British Energy scheme. The panels will help cut energy bills and generate clean power, with around 250 schools across the UK expected to have installations by the summer. (Warrington Guardian)
We tried one of Warrington’s pop-up dining experiences

Last Friday, my wife and I headed down to Number 9 Café in Great Sankey for one of the pop-up dining experiences run by Enigma Dining.
We had a 6-course tasting menu (I’ve never had anything this fancy before), and it was a great night. Before each course, Nigel came out, talked us through it, explained where the ingredients came from, and why he chose them. It made the whole thing feel a bit more special than just going out for a normal meal.
The reason this is in The Scoop is simple, as it’s exactly the kind of thing we want to share. The stuff happening around Warrington that you might not otherwise know about.
You can also check out a quick video here on the Scoop socials as well.

🍻 MCOY's sports bar, located on the corner of the Hive on Sankey Street, turned 1 this week.
👶 The Baby Store is moving to Junction 9 retail park on the 20th of March.
🎢 Gulliver's World has an offer where all mums can attend for free on Mother's Day, which is a great offer worth checking out.
😄 Slimeville (the old Brannigans building opposite Wetherspoons) opens its doors on the 14th of March. This has been advertised for a while, and it’s good to see an old building being put to good use.
🤣 Comedian Gary Delaney, known for his rapid-fire one-liners and appearances on Mock the Week, will perform at Parr Hall for the first time on Saturday, 20th March 2027 (next year) as part of his Gary on Laughing tour.
📗 Yesterday was World Book Day. Golden Square has made its book swap feature permanent, which you can find behind Costa Coffee in the blue zone opposite River Island.
Immersive Music Club

We recently spoke to Rob, who runs Immersive music club. Using cinema-style surround sound and Dolby Atmos / spatial audio, albums are played in the dark so you can focus purely on the music. Instead of sound coming from one direction, instruments and vocals move around the room, putting you right in the middle of the record.
Most people never hear albums through a full surround setup like this, which makes these sessions a rare chance to experience both classic releases and new records in a completely different way.

☕️ CBK Coffee in the Hive is offering 50% off the bill if you roll a 12 on the dice. We tried….. and failed 🤣 Kyle is a great lad who runs it, pop in if you haven’t been before.
🍰 The General Elliot in Croft has started a coffee morning every Thursday from 10:30am, where you can grab a coffee and a cake and catch up.
A lovely spring photo to cheer you up 🌻 🦊
Last year, we featured an amazing photo of a fox in the snow by a Warrington photographer, Sophie Luby. We followed up and asked her if she had any Warrington spring photos for the readers, and she sent over this lovely fox cub in Daresbury, captured beautifully in Spring.

Did you know that Hatters Row had an upstairs?
In Monday’s email, we discussed the Humanity Skate Store, located upstairs in Hatters Row. This prompted people in the comments to say that they didn’t even know it had one. Part of the Scoop is to show off different places, etc., but in my head I presumed everyone knew about the upstairs….. but I was wrong 🤣

Warrington Wordle 🧠
We’ve had thousands of you sign up to the newsletter recently and the honest thing is….. I’ve kind of run out of Warrington-related words 😂
Therefore, we are going right back to Wordle day 1 (August 2024) and redoing some of those words. Hopefully, you have forgotten some of them and it gives all the new subscribers a chance to play the original words 😀
A slightly quieter week on the socials this week, but here are a few videos you might want to check out.
🗑️ Have you ever noticed these little bins specifically for bubblegum around Warrington town centre?
🤔 Warrington was looking good on Thursday morning when the sun was out, so we made this little video to show it off.
