Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
We received an email the other week saying they love to print out a copy of this email, and it's been handed out to the residents of the care home she works in. It’s great to hear that it’s read by those who don’t even have emails 😄
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕
Sponsored by Dream Doors (New Life For Old Kitchens)
If your kitchen is looking a bit tired but a full refit feels like too much, Dream Doors Warrington specialise in replacement kitchen doors, worktops and appliances, giving your kitchen a brand new look without the brand new kitchen price tag. It costs about 50% less than a fully fitted kitchen and can be installed in just 2 to 3 days.
Right now, they are also offering £600 of free storage, exclusively through their Warrington showroom, until 30th June 2026. They are a family run business based in Grappenhall with a 9.8 out of 10 rating on Checkatrade. Find out more and get a free estimate on Facebook, Instagram, or their website.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.
🏊 A new bid to save Woolston Neighbourhood Hub from permanent closure is under way, with Woolston Parish Council nominating the building as an asset of community value. Over 3,600 consultation responses have already been submitted by residents calling for it to be saved. (Warrington Worldwide)
🎬 A gangster film shot in Warrington in 2024 is coming to Apple TV on 8th June. Fall to the Top was filmed at locations including Doherty's Irish Bar on Bold Street and The Blue Bell on Horsemarket Street, and features Paul Chuckle in a surprisingly dark role. (Warrington Guardian)
🌊 Three Warrington police officers are to receive bravery awards after pulling a woman from the River Mersey in November. PC Alex Hill entered the fast-flowing water at night to bring her to safety, while PCs Adam Keenan and Tom Pye administered emergency first aid. The woman has since made a full recovery. Well deserved, lads. (Warrington Worldwide)

This week, we saw a post on the We are Warrington Facebook page about the “skittles,” as they're called, but they are actually Guardians. Designed by the late American creator, Howard Ben Tre, the artworks are in a circle around the fountains and were completed in 1999 as part of a major transformation for Warrington town centre.
The video got a lot of negative comments (I thought it might) regarding the sculptures, but here they are, if you are new to the town and haven’t seen them before
