Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop. The twice-weekly roundup of everything going on in our town, written by a Warringtonian, for Warringtonians.
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕
P.S. Don’t drink too much this weekend in the sun and don’t forget your suncream! 😎
Sponsored by T1 Golf Sports Village

If you’re looking for something to do then foot golf course at T1 has just reopened this year. It’s just £6 per person and a good way to get the kids (and grown-ups) outside for a bit.
They also have:
Two brand new padel courts
An indoor football pitch
A newly opened carp fishing lake
A cafe serving food all day
If you pop down, tell them you saw it in The Warrington Scoop.

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.
🌳 The Warrington Guardian Camera Club has been sharing some stunning photos of local walks this week. Highlights include Sankey Valley Park, Lymm Dam, Risley Moss, Pennington Flash, Dunham Massey and the Bridgewater Canal. A lovely reminder of how much beauty there is on our doorstep, perfect for a Bank Holiday weekend. (Warrington Guardian)
🐾 A charity dog walk is taking place in Warrington this Sunday (May 24) organised by Shannon, an ambassador for dog meet-up app MorePaws. The walk is in partnership with The Shed Moore café and raises awareness for Home Run Hounds, a local charity that rehomes retired racing greyhounds. (Warrington Guardian)
🏋️ PureGym Warrington North has reopened after a major refurb. The Winwick Quay site is back open 24/7 with a brand new women's-only workout space featuring squat racks, dumbbells and a Smith machine, plus a beginner-friendly strength zone, extended free weights area, and upgraded studio. Warrington Wolves Heritage Trail Map 🐺

A giant illustrated heritage map is now on display in the Golden Square shopping centre as part of the newly launched Wire2Wolves Heritage Trail. Displayed just outside Starbucks, it traces Warrington Wolves' rich history across the town and you can scan the QR code on it to jump straight onto the trail.
What makes it extra special is that the map was designed by local illustrator Stef Woof, a Warrington girl who says seeing her work in such a prominent place felt like a dream. Stef created the map in partnership with the Warrington Wolves Foundation, with the official unveiling celebrated alongside players, player ambassadors, and sponsors Watsons Solicitors.

🛹 Have you ever visited Activity 4 All in Great Sankey? It has Ramp 1 and Airbase 1 inside, and it’s a great place, especially for those with children who are looking for something to do on the weekend. We went down to speak to Scott, the owner, to find out more about what goes on there.
😄 I did a post here, about me, as people kept saying they wanted to see who was behind the Scoop….. but the Scoop isn’t about me, it's about you, the readers, but if you are interested, go and have a nosey, haha.
Who can relate to this meme about how much time they have spent on Winwick Road?
🤔 What’s the best thing about living in Warrington? Let us know on here (nice comments only please)

🎸 I am sure you know, it's the Neighborhood Weekender this weekend, but that does come with some road closures around town. Mainly Bridgefoot from 10pm to midnight, but theres a full list here (too big for them to be mentioned in The Scoop).
🎯 Warrington's own Luke Littler has collected his MBE. The darts world champion was presented with the honour yesterday alongside his family, and shared a typically down-to-earth reaction afterwards. "Not that long ago I was playing in the academy and local pub leagues," he said, "so to now have an MBE is crazy."
🏛️ Warrington has a new Mayor. Councillor Sagheer Zaman was formally appointed as the 142nd Mayor of Warrington on Monday, with Cllr Maureen McLaughlin named as Deputy Mayor. A born and bred Warringtonian educated at Beamont Primary, Woolston High and Priestley College, Cllr Zaman brings more than 25 years of community service to the role. His Mayoral year will focus on unity, inclusion and civic pride.

🎤 A quick shout out to Warrington's own Amy Nic, who is taking to the stage at Parr Hall this Wednesday (27th May) alongside comedian Lulu Simons for a one-off double bill called Work In Progress [and other lies]. Amy's show is inspired by a season she spent entertaining at a caravan park, expect nostalgia, rogue tales from North Wales, fan-favourite impressions and plenty of party dances. Lulu's set meanwhile explores modern womanhood through the lens of the Spice Girls. Tickets are just £8 and on sale now at parrhall.culturewarrington.org. Go support some brilliant live comedy.
⚒️ The Sankey Canal Restoration Society are looking for volunteers this Saturday (23rd May) for a task day at Winwick Dry Dock, 10am to 2pm. They'll be clearing vegetation and restoring stonework, all tools and safety gear provided. Just bring old clothes, sturdy boots and some food and drink

🍜 Warrington's got a new one to try. Pookieboo has just opened in the Golden Square shopping centre, serving up fresh poke bowls, tasty dumplings, smoothies and refreshing drinks.
🥤 Farmer Bertie's Pumpkin Patch has just launched a second milkshake vender, this time over at Culcheth Village Club. Months in the making and now finally open. Watch their video to find out more about the machine itself
🍕 The Blue Bell has just added pizzas to the menu and honestly they look incredible. Hand-stretched 12" pizzas made fresh to order, with options including Margherita, Pepperoni, Veggie Supreme, Spicy Chicken & Chorizo, or build your own.

I met someone in a cafe last week at a networking event. One of the first things she said was “I love the Warrington Wordle,” which was really nice to hear.
Good luck with today’s, and as always, let me know how you get on by replying to this email (Fridays’s inbox is full of replies with Wordle scores!)
Thanks 👍
