Can you believe it’s October already? I know summer has long gone now (and we have a storm this weekend), but there is a lot to look forward to in October. Today’s focus is pumpkins and beer!

Pumpkin picking guide 🎃
Pumpkin picking season is well underway, with a lot starting this weekend. Here are some of the ones in and around Warrington.
Please double-check their websites/Facebook as times may differ.
🎃 The Hayloft (Bold, Widnes, Cheshire)
Open now until 31 October, 10am–4:30pm daily. Free entry, pay-for-what-you-pick pumpkins start from around £2. They also run a spooky maze (£3.50), miniature railway, play barn, and maze features.
🎃 Lymm Pumpkin Patch (Lymm) - Opens on the 4th October
As well as pumpkin picking, there ie also a mini maze. No bookings required.
🎃 Kenyon Hall Farm – Croft – Open daily until 31 Oct
The biggest local patch with 20,000+ pumpkins to pick. Weekends need a pre-booked slot (£2.95), but weekdays are usually walk-in. Farm shop and café on site.
🎃 Bates Farm – Croft – Weekends in Oct
A 7-acre field with 40 varieties, from tiny gourds to whoppers. Free entry, pay for what you pick.
🎃 High Legh Pumpkin Patch – High Legh – Opens Sat 4 Oct (weekends only)
Over 22,000 pumpkins across 4 acres with 25 varieties. Plenty of photo props and wheelbarrows to help carry your haul.
🎃 The Lambing Shed – Knutsford – Sat 4 – Sun 26 Oct (weekends + half-term)
Pumpkin picking plus games, food stalls and carving demos. Their “Ultimate” ticket adds character meet-and-greets and extra activities.
🎃 Dunham Massey Ice Cream Farm – Dunham Massey – Daily until 31 Oct
Pumpkin patch with weekend family activities. Open afternoons in the week (12–5pm) and longer hours at weekends. Don’t miss the homemade ice cream.
🎃 Grange Farm Pumpkin Festival - Lowton - Opens 11th October
Guests are allocated a 2 hour slot. Open weekends and half term from the 11th of October.

If you haven’t been before, I can highly recommend it. My personal favourites are the railway lamb curry and the butter chicken. They have a jazz night on a Thursday as well, which is also really good.

Warrington Food and Drink News 🍽️
Rio Brazilian Steakhouse has closed down in the town centre. The good news, is that it’s opened up under a new company the next day that’s still serving the same style menu.
Bubbles Taste, a Hong Kong street food restaurant, has opened up in the Hive. Here is a quick video of what they offer.
Vandal has been crowned best bar in Cheshire for the second time.

Oktoberfest Guide 🍺
We’ve selected some of the main Oktoberfest events happening across town that you might want to know about, with a few starting this weekend!
Warrington Oktoberfest (Rotary Club), - Parr Hall - Thu 23 Oct – Sat 25 Oct
This is now in its 28th year. I have personally been for about the last 10 years and its always a great event.
Warrington Market Oktoberfest - Sat 11 October, 6pm
No entry fees or tickets needed and there will be a live oompah band playing classic Oktoberfest tunes.
Oktoberfest at Walton Hall & Gardens - Fri 10 Oct & Sat 11 Oct
Walton Hall & Gardens transforms its Old Riding School into a Bavarian ‘brauhaus’ with long tables, steins, German cuisine and a live oompah band.
The Odyssey’s 3rd Annual Oktoberfest - Sat 4th October
The Odyssey hosts its third annual Oktoberfest.
Moore RUFC Oktoberfest - Sat 11th October
Moore RUFC hosts a one‑night festival featuring traditional German beer, live music from the Oompah Stompahs and bratwurst.
