New M&S Outlet, Volunteers Needed, and Tomato Sausage Rolls?

Good morning, Warrington. This is The Warrington Scoop.

It’s been a cold, snowy week in Warrington, and it doesn’t look like it’s warming up anytime soon. The perfect excuse to stay indoors with a brew, right? But if you’re heading out this weekend, plenty is going on – and maybe a few things to debate.

In today's edition:

  • New M&S Outlet Store Coming to Riverside Retail Park 🛍️

  • Tomato Sausage Rolls? 🍅

  • Fancy a Brew and a Chat? ☕️

  • What’s on This Weekend 🗓️

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

New M&S Outlet Store Coming to Riverside Retail Park 🛍️

Marks & Spencer is set to open a new outlet store at Riverside Retail Park, and while it’s great to see another big name investing in Warrington, we’ve got to ask – is this the best place for it?

Riverside Retail Park is already known for its traffic headaches. The lights at Bridge Foot have been driving people round the bend for years. Getting in isn’t too bad, but trying to get back out? That’s a whole different story.

Would this new store have been better placed up at Junction 9, closer to the motorway and easier to access? Or maybe another part of town that could do with more foot traffic?

That said, it’s still good news for Warrington. More jobs, more choice for shoppers, and another reason to keep people spending their money locally rather than heading to Manchester or Liverpool. Plus, the M&S outlet format should bring some decent bargains, which is always a win.

But we want to hear from you – are you excited about this new store, or does the location put you off? Will you be braving the Riverside lights to grab a deal, or would you have preferred to see M&S pop up somewhere else in town?

Let us know your thoughts in the poll below – we’ll be keeping an eye on what you’ve got to say.

Fancy a Brew and a Chat? ☕️

Padgate Community Centre is inviting everyone to pop in for a coffee morning – running every Friday from 9.30am to 11.30am. It’s a great chance to grab a brew, have a chat, and find out what’s going on in the local community.

There are lots of free courses on offer, including cookery classes and digital skills sessions, so if you want to pick up a new skill or just meet some friendly faces, you’ll be made to feel welcome.

The centre is also on the lookout for volunteers to help with community projects like warm hubs, coffee mornings, and gardening groups. If you’ve got a few hours to spare, it’s a fantastic way to get involved and make a difference locally.

If that sounds like your thing, pop by any Friday, or give Dani a call on the number that’s on the flyer.

Because sometimes, a chat over a brew is all it takes to brighten the day. ☕️

Tomato Sausage Rolls Land at Tomlins Bakery 🍅

These came out last week, but we only heard about them today (not sure how, as we love sausage rolls here at Warrington Scoop). Worthy as one of the headline stories? We think so, as you all said you wanted more food content in 2025 and we do things differently here 😄 .

People are raving about them, and if the early feedback is anything to go by, these rolls are worth a try. Find out more on their Facebook page.

If you have tried one let us know you thought of it by replying to this email.

Anyone Lost a Dog? 🐻‍❄️ 🐶

Because of all the snow we have been having…… 🤣

Spotted wandering around town earlier – if this big fella belongs to you, could you pop round and pick him up? He’s blocking the roundabout, and the gritters are refusing to go near him. We tried offering him a Greggs sausage roll, but he wasn’t interested. Probably more of a Tomlin’s tomato sausage roll kinda guy? 😁
