Makers Market, Plant Fair & What's On This Week

Plus: Best afternoon tea in Warrington?

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

We visited Dora, the Dinky Boat Cafe, this weekend. It was the most popular feature in the newsletter a few weeks ago, so we thought we would make a little video of it for you, which you can view here.

Did you get up to anything good this weekend that readers might want to know about? Let us know by replying to this email.

In today’s Scoop:

  • What’s on this week 📆

  • Makers Market is back 🛍️

  • Spike Island Marina will soon have water ⛵️

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

Plant Fair at Arley Hall 🌺

The Autumn Plant Fair is on Sunday 14th September at the gardens. Entry is just £5 per person and that includes access to both the fair and the gardens (usually £12). Kids go free, parking’s free, and you don’t need to book ahead. It’s open 10am to 4pm, and dogs on leads are welcome too.

Makers Market is back this Sunday 🛍️

The Makers Market is back at Time Square on Sunday 14th September. Expect over 80 stalls of local makers, street food, live music, and family fun. There’ll be face painting with Enchanted Faces, music from 2Beatzduo, and brisket on the grill from Brisket Shack. It runs 11am to 4pm, and dogs are welcome, so it’s a great day out for everyone.

Spike Island High Tides 🌊

This week’s big tides could bring water back into Spike Island. At the moment, it’s completely empty, but the council has already built a dam wall in preparation for when the water rises.

The high tides to watch are:

  • Monday 8th: 17ft

  • Tuesday 9th: 18ft

  • Wednesday 10th: 18.5ft

  • Thursday 11th: 18ft

I’ve linked a drone video so you can see what Spike Island looks like right now. It’ll be interesting to compare once the water starts coming back in.
