Local news. No gloom. Just good stuff.

Stuff to do, stuff to know, and maybe a Wordle.

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop. This email will take you about 2 to 3 minutes to read (hence the name “Scoop”). All the good stuff, in a quick and easy read.

Can you believe it’s June already? Just where has the year gone? It’s going to be a hot one with tomorrow being tipped to be the hottest day of the year.

In today’s Scoop:

  • What’s on this week (plenty) 📆

  • Taxi poll results 🚕

  • Warrington Wordle 🧠

  • Warrington vs Glastonbury (Size Comparison) 📏

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

From The Papers 📰

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

⚡️ Sculpture alert: Bigger than the Angel of the North
A huge new art piece is being installed at the roundabout by Junction 8 of the M62. Called “Bolt of Lightning,” it features a WWII Lockheed P-38 and pays tribute to RAF Burtonwood. Skyline Drive will be closed overnight between July 25–28 for the install.

🍓 Free cocktails? You just need to find the plant
The Botanist in Time Square is hiding 10 strawberry plants a day during Wimbledon. Find one and swap it for two free Lawnstar Martinis. The hunt runs until July 13.

🏫 Top Marks for St Philip’s Primary
St Philip’s in Westbrook has been rated Outstanding in every area by Ofsted. Inspectors praised its high standards, warm atmosphere, and brilliant pupils. The school’s reading results stood out, and their campaign to save the local library showed just how thoughtful the kids are.

Warrington vs Glastonbury (Size Comparison)

We noticed this was going a bit viral with places comparing the size of Glastonbury to other places, so we thought we would compare Warrington. It makes you realise just how big Glastonbury is!

Warrington Wordle 🧠

I’ve had a few emails lately asking for the return of Warrington Wordle. As usual, feel free to let me know you got on by replying to the email.

Remember, every wordle is something related to Warrington. Today’s will get you thinking, but once you see the answer, you will know why 😆

Poll Results: Do You Use Uber or Local Taxis? 🚕

Thank you to everyone who participated in this. It seems Uber won with 72% of the votes.
