🏡 History, Housing, Hilarity – It’s a Full Week Here

Plus: A packed week of quizzes, crafts, and community events around town

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

You might want to clear a bit of room in your calendar. There's more going on this week than roadworks on Winwick Road. Spring wreaths? Yep. Viking training? Absolutely. Quizzes, comedy, crafts, and even a cheeky fashion show? Let’s be honest—if you’re bored in Warrington this week, you’re doing it wrong.

In today's edition:

  • The most expensive house in Warrington 🏘️

  • Warrington history on Instagram 📸

  • A full week of events 🗓️

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

The Most Expensive House in Warrington 🏘️

Last time we featured a house, Scoop readers absolutely loved it—so today, we’re going big.

Orford House in Croft is currently the most expensive property listed on Rightmove in Warrington, with a guide price just shy of £2 million… and it's something else.

We're talking five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pond, orangery, triple garage, landscaped gardens with a waterfall, and yes—Swarovski crystal taps. It’s full of original 1800s charm but packed with modern touches like underfloor heating, electric blinds, and a dreamy kitchen setup. There’s even a full annex for guests or grown-up kids.

And it’s only ten minutes from the town centre.

If you want to have a nosey, you can view it here on Rightmove.

Leading on from the above, if you won the lottery, would you stay in Warrington? Let me know on the poll below.

Warrington History on Instagram 📸

A while back, we shared some Warrington history in the Scoop—and loads of you said you loved it. So, while I’m working on some more history features for the newsletter, I’ve started posting a few short videos on Instagram.

There are two up already:

🕰️ One shows the Barley Mow pub, with a side-by-side of an old postcard and what it looks like today.

🚗 The other shows Market Gate looking down Horse Market Street, with cars driving down back in the day. I asked people: Do you prefer it then or now?

If you’re into local history, give them a watch and let me know what you think:

More coming soon.

Ad success story 🌱

A few weeks back, we ran an ad in The Warrington Scoop for Will at WW Gardening—and we’re really happy to hear it worked.

Will messaged us to say he picked up a few new jobs off the back of it, and one client even gave The Warrington Scoop a shout-out in their review. That’s what we love to see!

If you run a local business and want to get your name in front of thousands of Warrington readers, drop us a message. We’d love to help. 📩
