Walton Gardens Parking Update 🚘️
Something you might want to be aware of if you are visiting this weekend. Taken from their social media page.
“Due to essential maintenance, our overflow car park is currently closed and will remain so over the weekend. This means our parking spaces are currently very limited and we encourage you to use alternative transport methods where possible. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.”

Warrington’s Transporter Bridge – A Forgotten Landmark 🌉

I’ve had a few people ask for some history snippets, so here is the first one for you.
With the sun out on Thursday, I decided to take a walk down to the Warrington Transporter Bridge for the first time. It’s one of those places you hear about but don’t always visit, so I thought I’d check it out and grab a picture.
Here’s what makes it special:
Built in 1916 – Designed by William Henry Hunter and built by William Arrol & Co.
One of only a few transporter bridges left in the world – Once, Warrington had two; now only this one remains.
Originally used for industrial transport – It was built to carry rail wagons from the cement works before later being converted for road vehicles.
Out of use since the 1960s – But it’s still standing, though in need of restoration.
A Grade II listed structure* – It’s on the Heritage at Risk Register due to its condition.
The Friends of Warrington Transporter Bridge – A local group working to raise awareness and protect it.

Have you been down to see it? Let me know what you think.
