The Tasting Rooms at Growing Fields 28
If you don’t have Instagram, you can view the video above on Facebook here.
Growing Field 28 is just 2 minutes down the road from Walton Gardens, and while most people will recognise the shop and cafe from the main road, there's a dedicated tasting room at the back.
Jan, the owner, invited us down to one of their monthly Tasting Room evenings. The space itself is really nice with a dedicated bar, a view straight into the kitchen where you can watch the team at work, and patio doors that open out onto a stunning terrace.
Over about three hours, we worked through six courses, each with a recommended wine pairing chosen to complement the dish. All of the courses were really nice with the stand out dish being the Lamb, as the way it was cooked and presented was perfect.
One of the things that really caught our attention was being able to see the micro greens they grow on site. These go out to Michelin star restaurants right across the UK, which tells you everything you need to know about the quality of what they're doing here.
If you're thinking about a birthday, anniversary or just a really memorable night out, this is exactly the kind of thing we'd point you towards. It’s the sort of evening you'll still be talking about months later.
They run Tasting Room events every month alongside other food events throughout the year. Give them a follow on Instagram and Facebook or check out their website for upcoming events.

There has been plenty going on the socials this week for you to catch up on.
⭐ We did something a little different this week (because we are all about the positive stuff) and listed some of the places in town that recently got 5 star food hygiene ratings. Check the list here to see if your favourite place recently got one (there were most we could have added, but we only listed places from the past few months).
🌞 Did you manage to get any good pictures of the solar eclipse? If you didn’t then we had plenty of people across Warrington share their best images on our social media for you to look at.
🛍 It’s the final week of Hancock and Wood with many items reduced to just £5. If you are in town today, pop in and see what you can find. It really is such a shame to see a shop like this closing that has been here for so long.
🥵 Are you bored of the heat wave? Today is a little cooler I know, but in the week we posted asking you guys if you were bored of it.
🙏 We went out and made a video for one of our sponsors, Rachel Sewell who is an NVT Therapist, which you can check out here.

🐺 As part of the Wolves 150th anniversary celebrations, riders from the Warrington Wolves Foundation cycled over 230 miles across France and Belgium, visiting the battlefields and cemeteries where Warrington players who made the ultimate sacrifice are remembered. The whole journey was captured on film and is coming to Cineworld Warrington on Thursday 20th August at 6.50pm.
🕊️ There's a really lovely free exhibition on at Warrington Museum until 30th August. Within The Folds by local artist Chloe Watts features 1,000 folded origami cranes inspired by her childhood hospital stay. Visitors are invited to fold their own crane and add it to the installation.
🌍 Warrington Mela is back at Queens Gardens on Sunday 6th September, with music, dance, food from around the world and family activities. The event is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, not the council.

🥩 The White Hart are offering a free starter and dessert when you order any steak from the menu, every Wednesday and Thursday from 11.30am to 9pm.

👮 A lovely bit of Warrington history. Retired PC Allan Murray, now 93, has been sharing memories of his police training at Bruche in the 1950s. Even better, his great-granddaughter PC Sophie Brown now serves with GMP. (Warrington Guardian)
⚽ Lionesses star Ella Toone turned up at Cantilever Park on Tuesday night to watch Warrington Town beat Hyde United 3-0. She was there to support her husband Joe Bunney who is on the Hyde coaching staff, and was happy to pose for photos with fans.
☕ Bob and Berts, the popular all-day dining café from Northern Ireland, is opening a new venue in Golden Square on 26th August. The new site will seat 135 guests and create 20 new jobs in the town. (Warrington Guardian)

Thanks for the feedback on the clue that you get at the bottom of the email, it seemed to work with a lot of you, but a few of you made the error of checking it and ruining it for yourself 🤦 😆
Good luck with today’s Wordle, please reply and let me know how you got on.

⚽ Warrington Town's next goal will be the 7,000th in the club's history, dating all the way back to Harold Preston's opener on 27th August 1949. The 1,000th was scored by England World Cup winner Roger Hunt back in 1956. Who will bag the historic 7,000th?
Thanks 👍
Thanks for reading The Warrington Scoop today.
If you found this useful, please share it with someone who has arrived at the Pink Eye roundabout after 7pm this week and had to make a massive detour (it took us over 40 minutes to get to the rugby last night from Penketh).
Catch you on Monday
