Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🧼 Bodycare closed its Golden Square store last September when the chain went into administration, but it looks like Warrington will be getting the retailer back. The company is opening 17 new stores across the UK, with Warrington on the list, though an exact location hasn't been confirmed yet. (Warrington Guardian)

🛍 Shoppers queued outside Hancock & Wood on Bridge Street this week as the 112-year-old department store launched its closing down sale, with customers sharing memories spanning decades. Many expressed sadness that there is now little left on the high street for their generation. (Warrington Guardian)

🍛 A new Indian restaurant in Stockton Heath raised almost £2,500 for St Rocco's Hospice at its grand opening charity dinner, with Bombay Heath covering the full cost of all food, so every penny donated went directly to the hospice. (Warrington Guardian)

Dog of the Month 🐶

We're chuffed to be teaming up with Cheshire Dogs Home for a new regular feature, Dog of the Month. It’s something you have been asking for 😀. Each month, we'll be featuring one of their dogs looking for a forever home.

Meet Cali, our beautiful, happy girl who has made wonderful progress during her time with us. When Cali first arrived, she was a nervous and unsure dog who found new situations quite overwhelming. However, with patience, care, and gentle encouragement, she has gradually come out of her shell and is now showing her affectionate, playful personality.

Cali is looking for a calm, adult-only home with patient owners who are willing to continue building her confidence. She thrives with routine and would benefit greatly from ongoing training and positive reinforcement in a home environment. Having a predictable daily structure will help her feel secure and continue the progress she has already made.

We feel Cali would be happiest as the only dog in the home, allowing her new family to focus fully on her training, confidence building, and settling into her new life. In the right home, Cali has so much potential to blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

If you think you could offer Cali the understanding and stability she needs, we would love to hear from you.

A lot of people were shocked to hear that Tim Horton’s in the Golden Square is closing down and being replaced by Black Sheep Coffee. What do you think about this? Do we need another coffee shop? You could argue that it’s good to see a closed shop opening up again almost instantly.

🦈 While out on a walk, we noticed this random shark in the woods… but do you know where we are?

🌧️ Despite the rain, 111 volunteers turned out on Sunday for the Mayoral Litter Pick, filling 175 bags of litter across Warrington town centre in just two hours.

Cars you can drive with an app in Warrington 🚗

Last week, I was invited to take a look at the 2 cars in town that you can hire with an app.

I think it’s something a lot of people don’t know about (which is what the Scoop is all about!!!!), so we took the car out for a spin and put together a little video for you below that explains how it all works or theres more info on their website.

🚂 A Model Railway Festival is taking place at the rear of Grappenhall Community Centre on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July, noon to 4pm each day, as part of Stockton Heath Festival. Various layouts on show including OO gauge, N gauge and tramway, with the chance to have a go yourself.

🚴 Mike and Ste are swapping pints for pedals, cycling 600 miles from John O'Groats to Warrington Fire Station from 9th to 18th July in memory of Kieran Naylor and Rebecca Foster, raising money for The Skyla Project to equip fire engines with life saving kit.

Activity Angels July Calendar 🗓

Click here for a bigger version of their calendar.

We love what Activity Angels do across Warrington, and they started pretty much at the same time as the Scoop. They help people who are struggling with loneliness and run all sorts of different groups and activities across Warrington. If you ever attend any of their events, let them know you heard about them in the Scoop.

Question for you (not sure if this has been asked before), but what other trivia would you like to see in the newsletter? It’s a really popular section, and I want to make it as good as possible.

Anyway, enjoy today’s Wordle and as always, let me know how you get on (good OR bad haha) by replying to this email.

Thanks 👍
