Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
We keep things light, local, and positive—no crime reports, no politics, just the good stuff happening around town. New places to check out, local events, and a bit of Warrington nostalgia—it’s all here.
In today's edition:
2 New Bars Opening in Town 🍺
Cheeseburger Pies at Tomlins Bakery 🥧

What’s on This Week (more than the past few weeks) 🗓️
Plus Live Music, From The Papers and The Sport 😃
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️

2 New Bars Opening in Town 🍺
We have had a few bars close down over the past few months, which was sad to see (9 Gallon, Hop Co, and Lymm and Tonic)
The good news is that there are 2 new bars coming soon.
Nukes Bar

This will be a sports bar where Religion Coffee used to be (on the corner of The Hive).
Their Facebook page says they’ll have 8 TVs showing live sports, plus a pool table and two dartboards for anyone up for a game. They’re also promising a jukebox, karaoke, and live music to keep things lively.
And if you fancy a drink, they mention cheap beer, too.
Here’s a link to their Facebook page.
The Dubliner

This is opening where Flannigans Irish Bar used to be on the old fish market square. There's not much else to report on this one right now. If you know anything else, let us know.

Cheese Burger in a Pie? 🤔 🥧 🍔
A few weeks back, we featured Tomlins Bakery Tomato Sausage Rolls, which was popular with readers, with quite a few of you replying to the newsletter and telling me how good they were.
Well, they now have something new that’s attracted a lot of attention: a cheeseburger inside a pie. What do you think? These are available Fridays and Saturdays.

More information is available on their Facebook. Let me know if you’ve tried it!

Activity Angels Calendar 🗓️

Activity Angels have released their February calendar.
They’re all about spreading positivity through activities. It’s open to all adults, so if you’re looking to meet new people and do something uplifting, this might be for you.
The calendar above might be a bit hard to read on mobile, so click here if you want a bigger version that’s on their Facebook page.

Last Week’s Park Run Was One of the Biggest Ever 🏃
Last Saturday’s Parkrun was a special one, with 662 runners joining the 11th birthday event. That’s the highest turnout since Covid and the third highest ever. Here’s a link to the stats if you like that sort of thing.
Will you be running tomorrow? The weather looks dry and it’s a good way to start the weekend.

The Secret Painter Launches at Waterstones 📖 🎨

Now on display at Waterstones, The Secret Painter by Joe Tucker tells the fascinating story of Warrington artist Eric Tucker. For nearly 80 years, Eric lived a quiet life, secretly creating over 500 incredible paintings in his childhood home.
If you want to look at some of his work, check out this website.
