Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.

Right, get the BBQ out. I checked the forecast this morning, and we're looking at 26 degrees on Friday. I did what I always do when I see a number like that and checked Ibiza, and we’re going to be one degree warmer than them this weekend 😎

In today’s Scoop:

  • An inflatable fun day is coming to Lymm 😃

  • Brewery tap day is back 🍺

  • A big what’s on guide for the week 🗓

Grab your favourite brew, and let's start.

If The Scoop is part of your weekly routine, you can help keep it going for just £5 a month (less than a pint of beer…… but just more than a coffee 😀 )

I've now written 139 (roughly) editions of The Scoop alongside the day job, and every supporter helps me dedicate more time to bringing you the good stuff each week. Your name also gets a mention in the next edition as a thank you.

Here are some of our first monthly supporters (surnames will never be included):

Louise F, Paul L, Uvelt, Gary T, Eric R, Rob W, Tom B, Emma C, Andy B, Tony H, Sonia J, Amy S

Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🚗 BIG Motoring World has just opened its biggest store yet in Warrington, on Calver Park Road just off the M62. The 13 acre site will hold up to 1,000 cars with over 500 already there, more than half of which are electric or hybrid vehicles. (Warrington Worldwide)

🌟 A brilliant result for Warrington children's services this week. Westland Drive children's home has just been rated outstanding by Ofsted for the 13th time in a row, and four other council children's homes and supported accommodation services have also received positive Ofsted inspections. (Warrington Worldwide)

👨‍👩‍👧 Brilliant news for Warrington families. The town has been ranked seventh best place in England to raise a family, with strong scores across schools, childcare costs, child friendly attractions and access to green space. (Warrington Guardian)

🎈 Lymm Rugby Club is hosting an Inflatable Family Fun Day on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June. Two sessions a day from 10:30am to 1:30pm or 2pm to 5pm, just £10 per child for kids aged 2 to 12. Free parking too. A brilliant day out for the kids over the half term weekend!

🧑‍✈ I received an email from the Odeon last week saying that Top Gun (the first one) is back in cinemas, on the big iSense screen at the moment. Top Gun Maverick is also back in the cinema as well. Personally, I love it when the old films are on.

🎴 A new vending machine has just landed at Golden Square called Deck Drop, and it's a dream for collectors. Stocked with Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering cards plus Top Trumps, sticker packs and protective sleeves for your top pulls.

🐺 Wolves picked up a brilliant win away to Toulouse, beating the French side 24-16 to keep their Super League season ticking along nicely.

🧶 Sad news this week as Stitch Station have announced they will be closing their doors on Friday 22nd May. They have asked everyone to pop in before then to say goodbye and use up any remaining gift cards or loyalty points. A lovely little shop that has been part of so many creative journeys over the years.

🚲 If you want to learn a bit more about Latchford's history, then check out this great video on YouTube by Bimble as he bikes around the area telling you all the different facts about it.

🍺 Don’t forget, its 4T’s brewery open day on the Friday, Saturday and SUNDAY this weekend. Loads of great beers and there is food from the flatbread kid. If you go, let them know you heard about it in The Scoop.

🧑‍🎨 Local artist Darryl Doward recently completed work on his latest artwork, the old Thelwall post office. His art is also available in IKEA!

🕺 Thelwall Morris Dancers will be at The Mulberry Tree Stockton Heath on Wednesday, 20 May, for an evening of traditional English dance. Their friends, The Earl of Stamford Morris, will be joining them, so you are in for a real treat.
