Here are some positive stories from around the town over the past few days.

🐝 After ten years of campaigning, rare Wild Bee Orchids have returned in numbers along the Birchwood Expressway, with 97 spotted during No Mow May. Warrington Nature Conservation Chair Geoff Settle credited the council's mowing team for leaving the area uncut throughout May, allowing the wildflowers to flourish. (Warrington Worldwide)

🏃 St. Rocco's Hospice is back as headline charity partner for the Warrington Running Festival on Sunday 20th September, with places now open. You can sign up for a free charity place across distances from a 1.6K fun run up to a half marathon, in return for a minimum sponsorship amount. (Warrington Worldwide)

🚘 Kerry's Driver Training in Warrington has been named best driving school in the North West for the fourth year running, picking up the Prestige Awards title for Manchester and the North West. Founded by Kerry Longson nine years ago, the school has helped over 700 learners pass their test. (Warrington Guardian)

Myddle Ground Coffee & Co

A brand new independent coffee shop has opened its doors in Winwick this weekend.

Myddle Ground Coffee & Co on Myddleton Lane had a soft opening and were absolutely overwhelmed by the support from the local community. It's always great to see a new independent business set up in the area and we wish them all the best.

Give them a follow on Facebook and go and show them some love!

🦋 If you love wildlife, Woolston Eyes nature reserve is absolutely delivering right now. A recent morning visit recorded twelve cuckoos across all four beds, possibly breeding for the first time in decades, alongside stunning butterfly counts including 37 Painted Ladies and 18 Common Blues, plus Emperor dragonflies, Banded Demoiselles and much more. Honestly a remarkable place right on our doorstep. Follow David Bowman on Facebook for regular updates like this.

🌍 The Thelwall Scarecrow Festival is just one week away! This year's theme is Countries, with scarecrows popping up around the village from Saturday 6th June. Whether you're entering or just coming along to enjoy the trail, it's a great day out for all the family. To register your scarecrow, visit thelwallrosequeen.org.uk or find them on Facebook for more details.

🍰 Luckee at Golden Square are doing grab-and-go tiramisu pots in classic, pistachio and Biscoff flavours. If you haven't tried one yet, get yourself down there! How good do these look?

🍜 Food blogger Grumpy Northern Foodie paid a visit to Warrington Market cookhouse and ate at every single venue to bring you his top dishes to try. If you've not been yet or you're not sure what to order, his video is well worth a watch. Find it on his Facebook page!

📚 It's National Libraries Week and Warrington's libraries have a packed programme of free activities running from 2nd to 6th June, including children's craft sessions, coding, dual language storytime and more.

🧱 How good does this sound? Forget-Me-Not Bookshop in Culcheth are hosting a Lego for Grown Ups evening on Thursday 18th June at 7pm, where you'll build a mini wild flower bouquet, drinks and nibbles included.

🧶 If you drive through Winwick, keep an eye out for the knitted post box toppers made by Wilbur's Woolly Wonders. They've been brightening up the village and putting smiles on faces for a while now, with four boxes in the village to find. Give them a follow on Facebook.

Have you seen the Parakeets in Penketh? 🦜

I know these are probably all over Warrington now (I haven’t seen any myself), but they are becoming widespread across the UK. David Cross took his camera out and managed to capture these images. It looks like they have made a home in one of the trees. Check out more images of them here on the Penketh Community Facebook page.
