40 Things To Do This Week in Warrington
Plus: News you need to know, and house of the week
Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop.
Good news first. It won’t go dark before 5 pm now until October. We’ve officially made it through the worst bit of winter. So here’s your little dose of Warrington to start the week.
In today’s Scoop:
House of the week 🏠️
News from the papers that you need to know 📰
Our what’s on guide for the week (these guides are getting bigger as we get into the year) 🗓️
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️
P.S. Apologies if you received Friday’s email on Saturday….. there was a worldwide problem delivering email to Microsoft-related emails that was out of our control, so it decided to send it on Saturday (which made the Scoop look a bit silly 🤣)

From The Papers 📰
Here are some stories from around town over the past few days that are not about crime or politics, and we think you might want to know about.
📉 Warrington Borough Council has unveiled a cost-cutting budget to tackle major financial problems, warning bankruptcy without support. Plans include a council tax rise near 10 percent and selling assets such as Birchwood Park, Redwood Bank, solar farms, Time Square, and housing land. Councillors vote next month, with final decisions soon expected locally. (Warrington Guardian)
🎾 Village Hotel Centre Park has won approval to convert two disused tennis courts into five covered padel courts. Plans include a canopy, glass screens, lighting, and fencing for all-weather play. The new courts will be open to hotel guests and local members as padel’s popularity keeps growing across Warrington. (Warrington Guardian)
♻️ Don’t forget that Warrington’s weekly food waste collections start on March the 31st. You now have your indoor and outdoor caddies with liners for scraps such as meat, veg, dairy, and leftovers. These will be collected on the same day as your black bin day, with the waste turned into green energy and fertiliser, helping keep household bins cleaner. (Warrington Guardian)
🍽️ Cantina has opened in Culcheth, adding a new weekend dining option upstairs at Il Cortile. The family-run restaurant serves a fixed-price menu with two courses for £25 or three for £30. Menus change often and draw on global flavours with local produce. It opens Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead is advised. (Warrington Worldwide)
