Good morning, Warrington. Mike here. This is The Warrington Scoop. Did you make it to the Warrington Wolves game yesterday? Fans were allowed on the pitch after the match for a party, to celebrate 150 years of the Wolves.

Grab your favourite brew (it will be pumpkin latte season soon), and let's start.

I’ve been chatting with Lorna from DecKing recently, and if you’re thinking about improving your garden this year, they’re well worth speaking to. Whether it’s bespoke decking, fencing, gates, pergolas or a complete outdoor transformation, the team has completed some fantastic projects across Warrington and the surrounding area.

Take a look at some of their recent work on YouTube, or visit DecKing.Group to generate an instant quotation or book a free local site visit.

We wanted to give a big mention this week to Radio Warrington, who are located in the market. They are a community run radio station that has been going since 2007 and, being based in Warrington, they are all about the town.

You can listen to them on your smart speaker, DAB and online.

🥕 We caught up with Rob from Warrington Fruit and Veg where he gave us an update on how the year has been for him with all the hot weather, and what it means for the rest of the growing season.

We came across this amazing channel called Echoes of the North. They recreate videos and show what life was like “back in the day”. The video below shows Warrington town centre in the 1960s.

Instagram post

Black Sheep Coffee have put up their signs to say that they open on Wednesday, and all coffees will be £1 on the opening day. If you are not sure where this is, it’s where Tim Horton’s used to be.

To get more people to subscribe to the newsletter, we made this fun video (based on another trend) about a plane flying really low over the golden gates in town. Please share this with someone who isn’t signed up 😀

🦁 The Warrington Lions do brilliant work in the community and they're celebrating their Charter birthday on Saturday 5th September at Walkers Sports and Social from 7pm. It's £15 per head including a hot supper, live entertainment from Karrie Sharee and a DJ. Tarts and Vicars fancy dress is optional but encouraged.

🕺 Don’t forget, it’s Creamfields this weekend, which means traffic around town and the train station will be extra busy, so allow extra travel time depending on where you are heading.

📺 Have you ever watched a YouTube channel called Bimble? He makes great videos around Warrington and in his most recent one he talks all about Sankey Canal and it's really interesting.

🏗 While we are on the subject of videos, here is a video update that someone made with a drone showing the demolition progress of Fiddlers Ferry so far.

🎮 Geek Retreat Warrington run a Pokémon Kids Club every Saturday and Sunday from 11am. For £7 entry your child gets a free booster or promo card and there's a free drink for the grown up too.

🎳 64 bowlers competed across three weekends at Eagle Sports and Social Club in a crown green bowls tournament organised by John Garratt and Andrew Garnet. Dave Penketh took the title after a closely fought final against Lee Johnstone, winning 21-18. The event raised £210 for Hopes and Beams. A brilliant example of local community sport doing what it does best.

🚲 Warrington lad Olly is cycling 180 miles coast to coast from Hornsea to Southport over three days this Bank Holiday weekend to raise money for a Camps International trip to Cambodia. A brilliant challenge for a great cause.
